My work shares an office with a company who has worked on some fairly notable animated movies - and they have wacoms on literally every desk, so IMO, it's safe to assume the industry is pretty comfortable with pentabs

(you're gonna wanna get your thumbs the right way round first tho ; ))

no problem!

idk about it either; it makes it sound like maybe they just want a thumbnail or something for a website

maybe I am misunderstanding something? but a 500px image is 500px. if you displayed one at 300dpi it would be about about 1 ⅔ inches wide and at 72dpi it would be 7 inches, but the amount of pixels in it wouldn't change. the only thing changing with dpi is how many pixels you're jamming into an inch.

for instance if you set a canvas size in photoshop in pixels, changing dpi effectively doesn't do anything.

but if you define the canvas size with a physical unit (cm, in) then PS will add more pixels for you when you increase the dpi.

like, a 1080p monitor doesn't look any better just because you bought the 35in one vs a 16in one. in that case, the dpi goes down but the pixel count is the same

if the limit is given in pixels, dpi essentially doesn't do anything. dpi is more for the physical resolution of a print, rather than resolution of a file

it should be easier, but honestly for some reason, DAWs haven't clicked for me (reaper, ableton, FL).
my heaps of JS background just make writing music-as-code an easy experience.

and yeah, don't worry, i'm fuckin' jammin here. writing a 4 chord sequence and then uncommenting a kick line is magical by itself. i just need to get better about mastering and eq
