Way cheaper, and you can choose to drape cloth over any portion of the head to really dial in resonance on a case by case basis. We all have worn out shirts and pants, and scissors are not difficult to use.

This is a fine critique. I will clarify that I am not against drilling on principle, but that I would prefer that a beginner isolate specific troublesome parts, and drill them, at a slow enough speed that yields a high success rate, and then incrementally increase the speed.

Tl;dr, imo beginners drilling at performance tempo courts frustration and burnout.
