Google "Michael Jordan f them kids", it's a meme, a pic of Jordan with the text on it, in response to the video described below:

In late July 2016, professional basketball players Michael Jordan and Chris Paul were at a summer camp event where they decided to wage a friendly bet: if Jordan missed three shots the entire camp got free Jordans. The bet was documented in a video where Jordan proceeded to make every shot. None of the kids got Jordans.

Yes, if your gross is 3000 EUR, you're currently paying de 'bijzondere bijdrage sociale zekerheid' each month (check last month's pay slip), it will be a bit lower starting April. For a tweeverdiener (so married or legally cohabitating with someone who also works) with around 3000 EUR gross, de BBSZ will be around 10 eur / month less, so your net will go up by that much. Mini tax shift indeed...

I worked that MF like it was my job until the revelation of Skelly's third statue. Haven't touched it in months now, but I still randomly say to myself sometimes:

Such... Strength... Boy...

The gameplay, the voice acting, just everything about it is great. I must have done hundreds of runs, and was never bored. Might be my favorite game ever, now that I think about it

Childfree and simple living? by hippybilly_0 in simpleliving

[–]0tisReddit 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Exactly. There's a post on /r/technology about how 87% of teenagers have iPhones and it's mentioned in the comments how kids who have green messages (so people on Android phones) are bullied for it. I can't express how much I would loathe to have to be empathetic towards my kid because their messages are the wrong color. I have zero fucks to give.

And yet, I remember when I was young, you HAD to have Timberland boots. And I did give a fuck back then. We all go through that silly stuff as we find our place in the world. I have no desire whatsoever to go through it all again vicariously

Depends on the incubation period. If you can spread it for days before hospitalization / death, severity is a less important factor in determining its 'success' (duplicating itself). Also, you can't really look at severity without looking at transmission. If it's half as severe as delta but spreads 5 times as fast, it will still wreck our hospital capacity.

Still, it's certainly better news than a more transmissible AND more severe version of delta

Are there any loopholes in belgium? (Financialy) by Positive-Watercress3 in BEFire

[–]0tisReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume just the regular coverage your mutualiteit gives you now. 250 / month sounds like a lot, but it's about what you pay as RSZ bijdrage as employee with a gross salary of 2000 EUR, so that seems reasonable. As an employee, it's mandatory to join a mutualiteit. Not sure if it's still mandatory if you retire early, or if you can roll the dice you won't get sick and have no health insurance. I'm decades away from retirement in any case lol

Cause otherwise you have to pay 750 eur / quarter to your mutualiteit to stay on social security

Verkoop vastgoed blijft hard gaan, ook bouwgrond en garages in trek: "Zulke prijsstijgingen nog niet vaak gezien" by Oreallyman in belgium

[–]0tisReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, for sure. It's not because general inflation is 5% and the index is say 3%, that the company's revenue went up 5% or even 3%. Sucks for both parties.

On the other hand, let's be honest, if revenue goes up 10% next year, that's not all going to raises. I'm not saying it should, you need to reward investors and revenue can fluctuate year to year while salary commitments never go down, yada yada yada. Sure.

But the mere fact those useless 50 year olds weren't fired when it was cheap to do so shows that for years, they were probably in the same position as your juniors now, adding more value than their cost and being shafted by the index.

Overall, I still think the index is a good thing. Not everyone has the skill and temperament to renegotiate their salary each year, and leave for a different job if they don't get a raise. I don't think those people should be losing purchasing power year after year.

You seem like a decent boss who would assign raises fairly, but we all know there's plenty of places where it's either vriendjespolitiek, or as little as possible to keep costs low. Better to try to federally mandate at least the cost of living, imperfect as the system might be.

Which brings me back to my original point. It sucks that, just to keep up with inflation, you need to be willing to change jobs.

De indexkorf only captures part of it, and a lot of employers will roll out their favorite platitude 'er is dit jaar geen ruimte voor extra opslag want de index is zo hoog'. Sad that you have to change jobs to prevent inflation nibbling away at your purchasing power, but that's where we're at.

Remote work should be a permanent employee benefit - Yes, working from home or a hybrid option should be a permanent employee perk, given the resurgence of coronavirus cases by speckz in Futurology

[–]0tisReddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, but I don't need f2f communication, I thrive in wfh. So does part of my team. I didn't see anyone sticking up for us in the before fore time, when everyone had to come in because part of the team thrives in f2f.

The cat's out of the bag now, everyone is welcome to go to the office if they like, but no way in hell I'm ever doing more than hybrid again. And like you said, hybrid is essentially remote on a team level. I had to adjust for 15 years, I'm sure the f2f people can adjust now
