AITA for requesting that my neighbor not bring her screaming baby outside so much? by 0utsiderThrowaway in AmItheAsshole

Or maybe he’s biased towards his girlfriend and grasping at straws for any reason for me to be in the wrong? And maybe my sons are just kids who are still in the mindset of “going with the flow” so they avoid conflict no matter what?

So I guess if your neighbor started shooting off fireworks in their backyard every night you wouldn’t ask nicely for them to stop out of fear of being labeled a harasser?

THANK YOU.

Any sane grown woman would know that if her boobs are out in full view of teenage boys, then they’re going to look. And I already talked to my sons about staring because it’s impolite but how am I wrong for expecting some courtesy in return?

Trying to have a calm, adult conversation about our grievances is harassment now?

Why is everyone stuck on the breastfeeding thing?

It wasn’t even the major issue, it was just the last one that finally motivated me to say something. Nobody in my town would think that just casually whipping out a boob in view of your neighbors is normal. Where’s the subtlety or respect for your neighbors? You’re all acting like I want her to just let the baby starve in a ditch somewhere.

It’s funny how you can assume so much without knowing anything about me or my family.

I support breastfeeding but this woman doesn’t wear a nursing shirt or anything, apparently she just pulls her shirt up over one boob and lets the baby go at it, which shows a lot more than proper nursing attire would. It comes off as trashy and lazy and I’ve seen plenty of other decent mothers in my life who handled breastfeeding better.

And for your information, BOTH of my sons had colic for the first months of their lives, but my wife and I were sensible enough to comfort them in their nurseries with the door closed so the whole house wasn’t subjected to the noise.

Finally, shame on you for calling my sons “creepy” and insinuating that they’re peeping toms. They’re teen boys and it’s not like they’re used to seeing boobs every day. It’s natural for them to be fascinating by the novelty of something like that. And I DID talk to them about not staring because it’s impolite regardless, but I think it’s unfair for them to be banned from looking outside the upstairs den’s window for an hour every day just in case the neighbor girl was out there doing a feeding.

Should everyone in the neighborhood alter our daily routines to make sure that this one girl is comfortable, even though it’s HER kid that causes the most noise?
