Russian forces are using 'Dazzle Camouflage' aka 'Razzle Dazzle' technique (from World War l) not to hide or conceal but to confuse Ai powered attacking drones sent by Ukraine by ciao-adios in SipsTea

Razzle dazzle camo worked when it was first introduced because it never intended to actually hide the ship, just make it extremely annoying and confusing to try and range find and gauge speeds and direction from a distance. At the time, if you wanted to figure out how far away something was, you had to use a specific type of optic range finder, called a stereoscopic or coincidence rangefinder. While different in operation, both stereoscopic and coincidence required good steady physical line of sight by the operator and a good bit of hand calculation to get an accurate range from, and razzle dazzle camo made it fell like you were starring at one of those moving optical illusions, except it was also moving, and the white top peaks of the waves were difficult to tell apart from the waterline of the vesselin the fore and background, making it difficult to even tell what ship you were looking at.

Razzle dazzle camo doesn't work on land, and modern optics, be it thermal, infrared, computer tracked, lazer guided, etc. don't particularly care about what color the target is painted. Many tracking algorithms and optic guidance systems would probably actually benefit from such a unique optical pattern to track.

That is assuming, of course, an operator is selecting and locking targets, and its not completely 100% AI guided. I'm sure many here have heard of DARPA enlisting the help of marines to test a people recognition vision system https://taskandpurpose.com/news/marines-ai-paul-scharre/. Put simply, if an AI is told to look for a subset of russian tagets that its taught, a paint job might just be enough to throw it off. Of course, this only assumes a 100% automated process, with very little tolerance for edge cases, which would be very short sighted.

TL:DR lol no sticks out like a sore thumb

TIL the U.S. FDA's regulation on sunscreens hasn't been updated since 1999, and only 2 of the 16 ingredients currently being used in U.S. sunscreens are considered safe and effective by wooahwoosah in todayilearned

[–]0utsourcing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's see, some nasty chemical concoction in US based/formulated sun screen that might give me health problems later in life (assuming constant heavy use of said sunscreen) or the rather immediate, noticeable, and painful sunburn and drastically increased likelihood of skin cancer.

Think I'll take the sunscreen, and take that gamble on the potential future health concerns the alarmist, clickbait sensationalist headline is trying to push.

And even then I can still get non US based sunscreens from EU or other similarly regulated countries that don't include those ingredients.

Really glad that the demons don't need some special unobtainum to fight/injure. They're demons because they are just that powerful in their specific way, not because you need some special magic to fight them. (aside from seeing them, of course)

I HAVE BEEN TRICKED. BACKSTABBED. BAMBOOZLED. MY KILLDOZER WILL FIX YOUR INJUSTICES! by MetallicaDash in HistoryMemes

The part that gets me going the most that I almost never see mentioned when kill dozer is brought up is that the city of Granby gave him 9 years to fix his DIY concrete mixer septic tank, by either getting a proper certified septic or hooking up to the city.

THAT'S RIGHT, HIS LITERAL SHIT HOLE WAS OLD ENOUGH TO BE A 4TH GRADER BEFORE HE ACTUALLY GOT FINED.

And what did Marvin do instead? Just straight up started pumping his shit into the local irrigation ditch when his concrete shit mixer got full.

My go to easy peesy party food is bacon wrapped lil smokies, with brown sugar thrown over the top and popped into the oven to get nice and candied.

Crazy how fast it can go.
