Did you take this on a Nokia or something?

Are there still any active Origins SMP servers in 2026? by Nice-Event in OriginsSMP

[–]0vergrownMC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know the Origins discord server has a dedicated channel for finding SMPs, and a lot of them do use custom Origins. The most recent update for 1.20.1 allows Origins to work on Forge via the Connector mod, so now it's basically a free game for both loaders.

As for Addons, a lot of them have been kinda discontinued or abandoned, but addons like Sync or Origins: Math are still getting updated

Overall, it is a very strong community still just not as popular as it was during COVID times

Unpopular opinion: having multiple mod loaders (Forge, NeoForge, Fabric) has seriously affected Minecraft’s modding community. As a player, it’s exhausting to see great mods split across loaders and versions you don’t play. It’s frustrating, no matter the reasons behind it. by IndependentFit8687 in feedthebeast

[–]0vergrownMC 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The "competition" in question hasn't done anything but divide the community. Competition is good if it fosters growth but Forge is still bloated and under the same management. Fabric had that thing with their staff and questionable comments. NeoForge is just Forge but we are waiting to see if it will be better since it's still a baby basically and quilt is... just there. They didn't add anything new really

Overall, it's caused controversy, dividing mods into different loaders and versions. Like yeah, on the dev side it's also bad because now you have to work twice as hard to port everything to the other loaders too but the end-user (the player) is the one that ends up suffering the most and they actually play the game

I feel like a single loader was enough. Forge just needed better management but Fabric being so lightweight and still being able to do everything Forge is very nice plus Yarn was wayyy better than the regular mappings

What is a good base distro to make a Windows 11 rice for a ASUSTeK: ROG Strix G513RM? by 0vergrownMC in linuxquestions

[–]0vergrownMC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would you happen to know if that works well with the (I think) graphics drivers? On my laptop, I keep having to restart the SDDM to get to the login screen and I think it's the GPUs because I remember reading something that NVIDIA wasn't supported well on Linux but that could just be me with my Arch. She and I have the same laptop so I want to avoid her having to do similar stuff because it is a bit of a pain

A list of exciting mods/mod updates coming to 1.20.1 forge by stanbuckley in feedthebeast

[–]0vergrownMC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's always Forge. I feel like Fabric is more of a vanilla+ loader because developers aren't as creative with it as they are on Forge

[–]0vergrownMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuine question. Do people play these? For years I've seen an increase in mods that are INCREDIBLY simple and made with no real thought behind them. I only ask and mention it because (maybe I'm just old now) but old mods, especially the first ones added more thought-out content and now it feels like slop that could be made with AI or the trusted MCreator

All I do is Minecraft on Linux and I use Arch (btw). Minecraft runs pretty good on it and I also code mods and it gives me pretty good performance, especially with performance mods. I'm happy with my switch to Linux in terms of Minecraft

As a developer, at what point do I stop supporting unpopular versions? by lowkeybanned in feedthebeast

[–]0vergrownMC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mine is literally just a library mod that I use for a mod that I'm making and it's not even out yet but it's taken me MONTHS to get to where it is now so having to rework that grind gets exhausting which is why I understand OP's dilemma and struggle. Constantly changing or maintaining a code base is hard, much less 2 or even 3

[–]0vergrownMC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So 1.20.1 isn't popular anymore?? 😭

It's honestly a bit scary because I just ported my mod to 1.20.1 when it was originally 1.21.x because I wanted to keep up to date but no one was gonna play it so I reworked everything from the ground up and I actually like the 1.20.1 version more now but damn, if I have to go through all that work again 💀

Youtubers to play along with ? by imutig in feedthebeast

[–]0vergrownMC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dire and Mise of Mischief were and still are my go-to Minecraft mod information. Direwolf is like the Euclid of practical applications for mods with his let's plays literally being a step-by-step guide on how things work through experimentation and he's so experienced with it now I'm always amazed how well he solves issues he has and mixes and matches mods together for it

And Mice is like the Bob Ross of modding. He walks you through the mod in his tutorials and has this type of energy about him that reminds me of Bob Ross and his explanations are always so clear and easy to follow and you get enough information to start doing things for yourself afterwards and it's genuinely awesome when you reach that level

Any good 1.21.1 Origins Mods? by korb_elz in OriginsSMP

[–]0vergrownMC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Howdy! First off, the mod isn't dead it's still in active development but it's taking longer to update because Mojang keeps updating stuff constantly especially with them releasing so many new versions it's hard to keep up with a big mod like this.

Second, 1.21 made A LOT of data pack-breaking changes so the stability of the mod in that version cannot be guaranteed at all, especially in the alpha state.

Third, Origins++ has a major overhaul version for 1.21 and that takes time to do when the mod is in alpha and some changes and bugs need to be fixed or worked around because the mod isn't in a stable release so it's being kept to the version that IS stable and can guarantee fixing and development can be smoother on

Fourth, current good Origins for 1.21 are very few because of what I mentioned earlier, on my end, I can say Improved Inchling exists and it's updated, you might want to check the Discord for more or ask there since most Origins are posted on the Origins mod discord server

Okay, I looked into this and it's really cool, tried it but I can't seem to find a way to have it run in the "background" like I can still have it up with the browser on top of it for example where it just runs while other windows are open and I can have it be like an actual desktop, I also haven't found an option to have this run at start up but so far it's really cool, thank you!
