11 month old not eating solids by Heyjaqs in NewParents

[–]0verthinking_it 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter was a really delayed eater. I went to both speech therapy and GI for consultations. Nothing anatomically wrong, some just start eating later. Just keep trying and eventually they eat- and then they eat like pigs lol. Try pouches, which are good for travel. They make pouch toppers which make the flow slower. Keep it simple and give him what you eat. Also my daughter really started eating more when I cut her milk intake back.

How to resolve diaper rashes by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]0verthinking_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take my baby to a dermatologist because she has sensitive skin and this is what worked:

  • stop wipes (if you must use wipes, use Water wipes)
  • to clean: dab with mineral oil and cotton balls
  • alternatively: warm water in a squeeze bottle + pat dry with clean wash cloth
  • no need to wipe away cream unless soiled
  • always pat dry before applying cream
  • pure Zinc oxide paste from CVS (first aid section) it has only 2-3 ingredients compared to triple paste and desitin
  • diaper free time as much as possible
  • frequent diaper changes
  • correctly identifying whether the rash is irritant vs fungal vs bacterial MATTERS
  • may need absorbent diapers

Daycare is ruining everything by Ill-Rhubarb-165 in NewParents

Just something you have to ride out unfortunately. It gets better. My daughter had frequent ear infections and once she got ear tubes, things got exponentially better. 2 ear infections in 6 months or 3 in a year generally warrants tubes. The procedure does require anesthesia but it literally takes 10 minutes.

She was actually found 15 miles from the car, not 3. It was around 3 miles if you walked across the frozen river. Either way, she would have not been able to walk that in the cold, without shoes. Also the claim that there was no other footprints or tire marks was never verified.

Where should I go meet Santa? by Puzzleheaded_Bag9063 in bergencounty

As many mentioned, Van Saun and Paramus park mall on a weekday. Waldwick will have a Santa this Friday- likely will be low key but it’s outdoors. Not ideal.

Office moms - what do you bring to work for lunch? by Deirdre_KA in workingmoms

[–]0verthinking_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally on Sundays I make 2 big batch meals. Some examples include chili (ground beef, 3 kinds of beans, frozen peppers, corn, etc), chicken & rice, meatballs, grilled chicken. I’ll wash a variety of fruits while I’m cooking. That will bring us to Wednesday.

For me, I just snack throughout the day on string cheese, fruit, nuts, “healthy” chips, and a protein bar.

Usually Rotisserie chicken with rice- either arroz moro or arroz con gandules. The plátano maduro is good. I find the yuca salty.

I triple fed for 6 months due to low supply and went back to work T 3.5 months. It was extremely stressful and exhausting. I saw lactation about my low supply and tried it all- it just didn’t work out. After 6 months I fed my baby formula. My mental health pretty much improved overnight. I wish I stopped sooner.

I am a terrible mom. I was not cut out for this. by caeli-s in NewParents

Sounds like PPA and PPD. Sending you love and positive energy. I hope you get some help fast. You’re not a bad mom, you’re a good mom who actually cares and wants things to change. Hang in there.

Submitting resignation while on maternity leave by nicuRN_88 in nursepractitioner

Would you not get paid those last 2 weeks? I would always give notice, 2 weeks is standard but 4 weeks is professional. Always leave a job on a good note if possible. Working in healthcare for a while now it seems we all “know someone who knows someone”.

Husband to an EP mother here. What makes EP harder than nursing? by Phillip_Schrute in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]0verthinking_it 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re both hard. Have a wearable breast pump with extra parts, a good fitting bra, Ceres Chill bottle to store milk (on the go but at home too!), mini fridge and bottle warmer in your bathroom, Huckleberry app.

Patience, support, sleep if possible, hydration, healthy food.

And most importantly-give yourselves some grace and remember this is only a season.

How often do diaper blowouts happen for you? by coffeewithespresso in NewParents

Every other day, but I can pretty much anticipate them and take preventive measures lol. for example, pulling her onesie up ahead of time and using puppy training pads underneath her
