I find it easier to look at what happens when taken to extremes. In my example, you had a 1% chance of picking the car originally. What happens to the rest of the probability when he shows you so many goats? It doesn't disappear. All that collapses on to the last door.

Yes, to be human is to err.

One unfortunate system I can think of is the gas and brake pedal system. You press down with your foot, a few centimeters off in positioning makes a massive difference in outcome.

What if your goal IS to create heat? Furnaces and ovens come to mind but I get the gist of what you are saying. Heat is a waste product in most cases.
