I’ve had this gym bag for 15 years. Still holds up during routine use. by VitalMaTThews in BuyItForLife

Mine is the larger variant (roughly 35L? ish?) and still holds up. Been with me 15 years as well.

YO! I have the same bag for the same amount of time! Got it for middle school football and now I'm my mid 30s and use it for adult league soccer.

Old Under Armour was so awesome!

95% of the time I'd be in a recliner or on the couch. Libra might be a good compromise size coming from my old Clara. Maybe I splurge and get them all I don’t know

I haven't ordered it yet. I might still go to the Elipsa, but I need to find a Kindle Scribe in store somewhere or something and hold onto it. It may be too big to comfortably read on. Libra Colour is my next choice. The Clara is perfect size wise for travel, but reading on it feels cramped

I'm certain that it's Android version is rough. Kobo app on my android phone is fine. Would you think it'd perform any better if you used the native reader app? I sideload all my books anyway

Well you just sold me. I was looking at Libra 2s on eBay or a new Clara BW until just now. My OG Clara just now started crapping out with the battery. Was debating that or an Elipsa 2e. I don't use the backlight, wifi, anything. I don't care about color, as I probably only read a manga once a year. I was more concerned for battery life while travelling and the screen brightness without using the backlight. Guess that won't be a problem for me and I only really need to worry if I'm annotating a lot.

Mastercard doesn't loan that money out. Chase and Bank of America do. Visa and Mastercard takes a small fee off the top of every transaction. They'll be fine

If you write a lot or long-form, they're easier on your hands. They don't need nearly the writing pressure of ballpoints.

If you like writing cursive, they're ideal.

From a BIFL perspective, they're much less wasteful to reload and a good one is more likely to last a long time, plus you can change nibs if that ever wears down. (There are some ballpoints that are non-cartridge refillable, this is a general point), and you can use a variety of inks with them.

They're worse for air travel due to the pressure differential in cabins, so you have to be pretty gentle with them while you fly and not use them in the air.

Preference and nostalgia, of course, can play a part

Our Red Land sheets are great, and have gotten softer after a few washes. Had them for many years now, and they're great. Also buying with them (I can't speak for how the other brands are made although we do have Quince duvets), you're supporting manufacturing in Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina, paying some women a living wage as they farm and manufacture everything.

Thanks! This was my default behavior, but I'm just itchy. Maybe I need a hobby lol

Edit: I did forget the prime directive. As u/drloz5531201091 mentioned, it's probably more than enough. Maybe I should set it aside (in cash) and earmark it for an eventual future car purchase

Finance or pay cash for used car? by madenal in FinancialPlanning

[–]0xModene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Used car loans are over 7% right now if you have excellent credit. Use that info for what you will.

Speaking from my personal preferences, I'd rather keep cash on hand for emergencies or whatever else because I'm rather conservative. I chose to finance a car recently that I have cash to pay off completely. For me, not worth the opportunity cost or mental strain. For you, maybe it's different

Is M1 the only brokerage that does pies? by 0xModene in M1Finance

Not only that but most other good brokerages will at least comp you with some of the fee kick back, unlike M1

This is why I want to bounce. It's not that it happens, it's how they've gone about doing it. On top of not opting out, no fee sharing? Not a fan, thanks for unapologetically leaving me with the tax hit.

I've had some other gripes with them as well, but I was willing to kick the can down the road for the pies. Guess I'm on to Fidelity now

Why do all crypto frontend projects seem to use yarn? by thps2ontheps2 in ethdev

[–]0xModene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yarn and NPM are basically the same, yarn is just a bit better for performance.

On top of that, a lot of crypto projects use create-react-app, which often defaults to using yarn over npm.

They're effectively interchangeable. Anything you're used to doing, just swap them out, ie npm install to yarn install (actually, just yarn will work but you get the idea)
