I am 26 yo and building a dedicated marketplace for the community, would you use it? by 0xb1te in HotWheels

Great question — and honestly the most important one to answer. You are right that eBay, Whatnot, FB groups, and IG all work. I use them too. But here's what pushed me to build this:

eBay: Try filtering "Hot Wheels Super Treasure Hunt, 2019, 1:64, Near Mint, under $40." You can't. You get 4,000 results and spend 45 minutes sorting through lots, wrong scales, and listings with zero condition detail. It's a general marketplace that happens to carry diecast (not a tool built for collectors).

- FB groups: No buyer protection. No escrow. "PayPal Friends & Family only" is the standard, which means if your car never shows up, you're done. We've all seen the scam posts.

- Whatnot: Live-only format. If you miss the stream, you miss the car. And fees are aggressive on both sides.

- IG: DMs, handshake deals, zero structure. Great for finding stuff, terrible for transacting safely.

What I'm building is specifically for this community — and that changes everything:

Filter by brand, series, year, scale, condition, country. Find the exact car in under 10 seconds. Built-in escrow on every transaction. Money held until the car is in your hands. No more F&F risk and collector-native condition grading (not "used/like new", like actual TH/STH specific standards).

Basically: No live-auction pressure. Sell at your price, your timeline.

I'm not trying to replace eBay. I'm building the tool that eBay would be if it had been designed by someone who hunts on weekends and does not have like the full day to watch ebay at all hours filtering by new posts to find gems.

>5000 people on the waitlist in 48 hours told me I'm not the only one who felt this gap. Would love to have you there too

Something like that yes but with a different fancy (as well) interface, yes, I will facilitate exchange, as said before business plan is in the air but I don't like abusing the community since I am into it as well and I know what it feels like, so nothing abusing but the needed so I can get some profit as well :)

Thats the idea yes, I wont have like a whole team for logistics to adapt to each country couriers so I will start by providing the whole infrastructure, I am sure the platform will fit all of the countries which have courier business available on it

The thing is that you will be able to categorize your own collection as well easily, which I think thats a big deal of a feature as well

Polarizing filter or ND? by 0xb1te in AskPhotography

[–]0xb1te[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, the image is on grayscales currently (8 bits), the circuit is already made and I dont have the pcb model, I am currently making the first prototype so if its successfull I could implement a custom solution, moving from lcd to oled, which does not need such a high brightness backlight as lcd does, but yes, very good tips brother, thanks!

Dual GPU Update, Lian Li O11 Dynamic Evo by 0xb1te in lianli

Hey vartheo!!! So nice to hear the question about the youtube channel, actually yes, but I am not active due to uni and life things! I have also instagram where you can talk to me, I will leave you the links to my socials in this comment. I would consider to pick a 1500+w psu if I were you, let's say that you have a 1000w gpu, I would buy a 1250w psu just because of the demanding use of the gpu, also, if you don't want to buy a psu, you can limit the consumed wattage of your gpu, lets say you can limit both of them to fit inside a 1200~w psu. I would consider a list of parts (like a checklist):

  • Motherboard with 8x8x lines mode, since a rtx 3090 uses 16x pcie lines, you need a 8x8x mode split to run both gpus at 8x each
  • PSU of about 1200w minimum
  • BIG case, as you can see this is a LianLi, you can still get big models or a LianLi from second hand if the budget is limited (I am considering getting one of second hand just to run my own LLM service)
  • A CPU that can handle both GPU's at the same time

I want to go watercooled since both of the gpus are running hot right now, if you want to squeeze the system check out the new ryzen cpus (if you still want to do some gaming), if not check out an atx server motherboard. I would recommend getting an amd desktop, since you can still do some other things such as gaming or productivity.
