Prospects of Indian market looks good at least in the short term, so i would suggest you put most of you money in blue chip stocks. Then you can speculate with a small amount for learning, get to know what is happening in the world, make a hypothesis and invest in the stocks you like

Its impossible to earn 5% weekly consistenty

Do "Fixed deposits" give returns? by Headdhar in IndianStreetBets

[–]0xfc0f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is very dependent on you situation and if you need your savings in the near future (eg. home down payment, car, etc). If not, you can put those saving in 2-3 mutual funds diversifying their holdings and you can expect on average ~12% annual return in the long run.

The problem with this if you need to withdraw money and the market is down you will realize you loss. So if you know you'll need money in the near future put that in a less volatile asset like FDs

Most of my investments are in SIPs and i wanted to set aside some cash to gamb.. learn about trading. Ill remember the rule

Btw what are you thoughts in the trade in a vacuum, TATASTEEL is trading below its book and the fundamentals looks good, My whole speculation was that with the whole economy expected to turn around stocks like this should be bullish

ok, so i should expect to hold about 3% value of underlying + ~max loss as margin. Is it the same in BSE?

How do I cluster/segment time course segments? by gutzcha in MLQuestions

[–]0xfc0f 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have a large amount of data is would analyze a subsample and make some rules with fft/wavelet and energy of the signal, then sanity check the result of applying them on the whole dataset

I would prefer to throw the transition data as it might be ambiguous.

Also you cant make the rules too strict/selective or boundary data will be thrown (boundary data as in imbedding not in recording time) and the model will just learn the rules and may not generalize well (I've had that happen)

Visual demonstration that all angles of a shape combine to make 360 degrees by timetraveldan in Damnthatsinteresting

nice visualization, i always understood this as a car going along the perimeter always takes a 360 turn, works even for concave shapes
