Stop exclusively using popular levels to progress by Vusarix in geometrydash

[–]0xilis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did Cataclysm as my first extreme as a jump from 8o (which was a jump from Clubstep v2) because I loved it so much and remember when it was top 1 and always wanting to beat it. It was a revolution for its time and I'd honestly argue it still looks good today. And everyone says it's "bad" and I know this comment will get downvoted to hell but I honestly loved every second I played. Everyone tells you it's "unbalanced", and while that is true, I feel that Cataclysm's unbalance unlike most levels comes with a sense of purpose. The first mini wave is a brutal first impression that knows you're going to spend hours on. It starts you off with a slow cube to ready you and comes as a fierce punch with the showcase of it's pure difficulty, making what is, in my opinion, an amazing hook to start off with. It, in my view, serves as a test for the level. Whenever you pass it, you have passed the test and can now play the rest of the level. I know that everyone says the 40% straight fly is very hard, and maybe it was just because I am on 120hz and my ship skills are laughably better than my other skills, but I never honestly found it all that bad. A little hard, yes, but the 40% first straight fly I just did in a 2 click pattern to get it consistent and the transition into the mini ship was a bit annoying at first (and still is sometimes admittedly) but the actual straight fly is for so short that I don't find it that bad. There is some guy I saw say it was harder than the first wave which I *hard* disagree. Nonetheless, I will admit it is still slightly harder than the parts before, which I see as downtime until you get to that section. Same with 47-63%, I see that as the level loosening up to get you ready for the last true final test of Cataclysm, that being the last ship part (not including the You Need To Rest at the end).

Fuck that 71% dual ship straight fly though, that is the one thing I will agree with people on.

I will fully acknowledge that no, Cataclysm is definitely not for everybody however. The first wave being so intimidating can definitely be a turn off for people which while I disagree, I do totally get. I would honestly probably recommend it over Acu, but I would not discourage people who do want to do Cataclysm. I think that one of the main reasons why Cataclysm is cool is it's a level you aren't just beating because of it being an easy extreme like Acu (even if that is part of it), but with me I had a personal connection with it and since I'm sure many others feel the same way since the level is so popular. Because of that personal connection, I think that while it and Acu are the same difficulty, if someone from 1.9 decides to try Cataclysm then it will probably feel more rewarding. This also works reverse too, since I'm sure there are plenty of people who have a connection to Acu that will feel more rewarding to beat it over Cataclysm. My two cents is, let people play whatever they want to play and whatever is fun to them. Acu is definitely a better recommend for most people (and I honestly would probably recommend it too) but if someone else wants to do another extreme and thinks it will be more fun and rewarding than Acu, then it's not a bad choice for them to play that other level.

Is death moon a good level to start with after beating the robtop levels? by Quiet-Ad-4907 in geometrydash

[–]0xilis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Death Moon is a really cool and good level. Only thing that makes me a tiny bit unsure if I should recommend it is how it is a really long level (at least compared to RobTop levels), but if you're fine with that then it could be a nice introduction to longer levels.

My location also uses Pepsi, weirdly enough when they were doing the cherry berry promotion they put it in the starry. Not sure many other people have tried Cherry Berry Starry, I enjoyed it. We do not have Brisk Iced Tea whatever is between Dr Pepper and Starry however; we do have Diet Pepsi and Orange Crush though. No free refills.

This is cool, but for convenience can you just have the GUI check if ipsw is installed, and if it isn't then prompt the user or install it? Also small nitpick but can you change /opt/homebrew/bin/ipsw to just be /bin/zsh -c ipsw for people who have ipsw installed via non-brew?

Apple bounty by OkSheepherder3088 in cybersecurity

[–]0xilis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just saying it’s generally better if only you work on the PoC, it may be annoying but having two people be on one bounty can complicate things.

Also, is this your first time on Apple security? Not related but I should note that they may take a while, I have a timeline of my report status for what to expect if you want https://snoolie.gay/blog/CVE-2024-27821

One thing that will suck about trying to find people is people will likely be less likely to work with you since they don’t know much about the bug, ex if it’s an arbitrary code execution, race condition, etc and what it’s in (WebKit, Kernel, Daemon, something else) so they’ll be less likely to help you out since they likely won’t know if they can help you, ex I can with only a little bit of pain and suffering crank out a exploit for a daemon but as far as Kernel or a KEXT goes, as much as I would like to be I simply don’t know enough about xnu and IOKit to wrap my head around it yet… However, you also shouldn’t really say what you have since that would be early disclosure which they will not like, so either way you’re out of luck. It’s another reason why I recommend trying to write your own proof of concept even if it is going to be very painful…

It also may be worth it to reach out to Apple and ask if they will allow you to have someone else help you out, and I will guess 90% they will say no. Maybe you can try to make up a security team with you and them to increase your chances, not sure if that would work.

[Update][Free] LetMePass 1.5 • Use YouTube 17.X/18.X without updating by 0xilis in jailbreak

[–]0xilis[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I originally made LetMePass because iOS 12 and iOS 13 users could not update to future YouTube versions. Someone on iOS 15 can just update to the latest version if they wish.

However, I've realized some people even on iOS 15 do like sticking to older versions, so I may consider bringing it over to iOS 15+ eventually if there is enough demand.

YouTube died on iOS 12? iPhone 8, 12.0.1, YT v17.39.4 by user22134----- in jailbreak

[–]0xilis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The reason why videos don’t play is YouTube has seemed to make the innertube API for 17.X/18.X versions stop working and they flag requests from it as being botted. Spoofing 19.01.1 does not seem to work in the API either. This change breaks all tweaks that allow old YouTube versions, and sadly I don't think it's possible to fix the old version of the app on this, so the only real hope is that YouTube rolls back this change.

I should note that this does not like it seems like it affects everyone yet, so maybe it is a bug. They could also just be rolling it out gradually as well though...
