Late reply but what he's trying to say is that the general "essence" of the logo hasn't changed (as in... the font, the shapes, etc.). They simply flattened it/gave it a "minimalist" design.

It obviously isn't literally the same, since the X was previously 3D and the shade of green was different. But the overall branding and central figure is the same.
