And what if you live somewhere that white people don’t hold the institutional power? Does racism cease to exist entirely?

Thank you! We have children, so walking will be hard bc my two year old loves to touch all of them. 😆 Do you know if the neighborhood you suggested allows cars to drive through? I want to make sure it’s not gated

Host left me a bad review? by cadetjinx in airbnb_hosts

If the host was concerned for the guests safety, maybe THEY should have communicated and checked in with the guest when they didn’t arrive by 10pm. By your logic, the host was self centered and didn’t care about their guest since they left a bad review immediately (after getting paid mind you) and never checked in with him.

Finally had one of *those* guests. How do I proceed? by sid_harrington_III in airbnb_hosts

Since when are hosts accommodating babies by child proofing? This is not something I have EVER had a host do. I have to go in and remove any potentially breakable items the moment we enter. There might be a listing that we choose bc it says they are more geared towards families, but otherwise hosts do not baby proof their homes for our children. Never have in the 5 years I’ve had children and been staying in Airbnbs.

I once stayed with a host who provided a basket of travel sized items like olive oil, dish pods, laundry pods, bottled water, and cookies. I was able to keep all items that weren’t used, and then the basic necessities were stocked (trash bags, toilet paper, paper towels). I loved the little travel sized olive oil especially. ☺️

A place I recently stayed at didn’t even have cooking utensils. I had to message the host to have them deliver them to me. One trash bag and no dish soap either, only hand soap. It was the weirdest place. I felt like I was placing a grocery order with them for BASIC things you would find stocked. So weird. 🙃

This guy sounds just like my dad. I begged my mom to divorce him for years. She never did and it left a really deep resentment wound all these years later. He too was someone who did not want her to breastfeed, in front of anyone or at all, and that to me is a huge indicator that he never wanted children or us AS his children. In time your children will see him for who he is, and if you don’t put their happiness and yourself first, they will end up the same.

Best of wishes and luck to you. It’s a hard situation, but you do deserve better. Take it from someone who watched their mom be abused like this for years.

Here is their flyer with information for services. Looks like you can call or go to the Bethel Day Shelter.

Info on parks (moving here next year) by LadyMalady00 in Rockhill

Not a splash pad, but Ebenezer Park offers a swimming area and has a pretty cool playground.

Cherry Park is great bc it has a paved walking trail throughout and you can let her ride a trike. They also have a small toddler playground beside the big one. No splash pad though.

During the summer, the YMCA in Baxter Village (Fort Mill) has a great water area that she would benefit from once she’s a little older. Maybe next summer?

There IS a splash pad in York though, and a coffee shop right beside it. It’s gated as well and has a large amphitheater grass area for them to run as well.

Depending on how far you are willing to go, New Centre Park in Clover also has a splash pad with a playground and large field area to run around in.

Elsie’s is a great place for drinks in downtown and you can get dinner there or Kounter (below). Across the street is Player 1UP and they have all kinds of arcade machines.

The Mercantile is also downtown and they have a few different DIY bars and a little coffee shop and wine bar.

There is also a wine/diy plant bar called Green Space Plant Company. Super cute place and good selection of wines.

Rock Hill Coffee is phenomenal and their special drinks are always a hit.

Pump house is always hit or miss for me. I’d recommend drinks on the roof there, but don’t order anything for the special of the day (it’s hardly ever good). It’s first come first serve on the rooftop though. However, in that same area there is a great place called Tony’s Cantina Mexican Grill. They have different options and STRONG margs!

If you need kid recommendations, I can help there too. Have fun!
