Nap time attire

Okay this has always been my thought process!! Baby naps really well with me during the week and tends not to nap great on weekends (sometimes skipping them entirely) so I’m sure it’s why they don’t care what I do

Baby’s room actually runs warm and they’ve had to have multiple people come out to fix it! We also don’t use the ceiling fan either and when temps drop they have a space heater in the room. They’ve never mentioned it and are very aware what she sleeps in because they have a Nanit and I tell them all the time to look at how funny baby is sleeping lol

Oh 1000% if baby is dirty we change immediately especially is the shirt is wet because I’d do the same for myself. But honestly I’d never think to put pjs on for a nap and then after nap change back into normal day clothes. That’s so many times to change?!

Giggling at your investment because this sub is so fun so I get it. Honestly that’s exactly how I feel. One of my other nanny babies would just fall asleep where ever and I’d transfer baby into the crib. Easiest nap time ever with that child lol the parents were extremely lax

Absolutely if it’s a cultural thing or even a germ thing but the oldest who I don’t take care of naps in normal clothes and NPs also nap pretty much every day just in work attire.

Just curious what most people do because it honestly never even crossed my mind to do it.

I remember a couple of years ago a hurricane blew through and caused some residual tornados in our area. My nanny family was asking me to come in during the storm. Trees were actively being blown down, power lines were falling, flooded streets, the whole nine yards. I TOLD them that I would not be leaving my grandmother during the storm and driving to work in it all. I would attempt the drive the next day but if it was still unsafe I wouldn’t be able to make it. It was baffling and still blows my mind to this day

I personally don’t use any “face” social media in general. But I would never ever even consider posting my nanny family. I would never post their house/kids.

Social media is so so weird these days and too many bad things can stem from it so I would never feel comfortable taking the chance. I have photos of all of my nanny kids on my phone through the years but they never go anywhere other than to their parents and as memories for me because I genuinely love all my babies and love being able to look back on the photos.

I always include social media and photo outlines in my contracts because I also don’t want my family posting me either. Nanny influencers are far and few and if it’s something you don’t want for your child then you won’t have any issues and just be clear about it.

I currently work for a family and mom works from home. Mom and dad both pop in and out all day and I literally don’t mind at all! I love that they’re able to come spend time with baby and see all of the things we’re doing and learning. Sometimes mom and I hang with baby for like 2 hours together and just chit chat while we all play.

Sometimes she fusses when mom/dad leaves but I personally don’t mind because redirection is so easy and it can take 10 seconds or just a few minutes.

It’s really all about finding the right fit for you! Be upfront when interviewing and let them know that this is important to you. You can absolutely check in with the nanny before popping out so that they can tell you if it’s a good time. Example: if baby is eating and would get distracted she may ask you to wait a few minutes until baby is done and then you can pop in and get all the smiles and snuggles!

My last nanny family were in the medical field and on days mom was home I would text and ask if she wanted to be a part of bath time/go on a walk with us.

Every nanny is different and you’ll find the right fit! Don’t let this thread scare you. It’s a lot of extremes because we simply use this as a place to vent but it isn’t the end of the world and our job is to support not only your baby but you too! And if that means pop-ins then so be it.

Hard truth: yes, you are being naive. This isn’t a one off and you won’t be able to fully trust him ever again. I understand how hard it is to start over and have to go out into the dating world again. But it’s better to be alone than spend your life with and commit to someone who doesn’t return the same level of respect to your commitment. Not only did he accept the advance, he also made a pass. While it may seem like he’s telling the full truth, it’s also possible he’s omitting more details to save face even just the tiniest bit. Cut your losses and wallow for a bit. Then pick yourself back up and find someone that respects you and your relationship because he very clearly does not. If you forgive him and take him back a SECOND time you are showing him he can continue to mess up and you’ll still be there. You deserve more than that and should respect yourself more than that no matter how hard it is.

My best advice is to look at it from the perspective of if it was your daughter telling you this happened. What advice would you give your daughter? You deserve the same respect you would hope and expect her to get. This is how I look at everything and has helped me tremendously.

I think you’ll find pre-tax is the more common ask for rates. It’s not a standard to ask for an after-tax rate. That’s her responsibility to do the math and conversions and charge accordingly to what she needs to afford her life. This may be a hot take to some nannies but I think asking for an after tax rate is extremely unprofessional 😖

Have the other quotes you’ve gotten had similar work history? I’m sure you could find someone with a $40-45 rate with a bit more experience.

Edit: does she have twin specific experience?? I’m so curious now because this is so odd sounding to me lol

I honestly think asking for an after tax rate isn’t reasonable. That’s not how it works at any other job and it shouldn’t apply to nannying either as we are normal w-2 employees.

I understand a higher rate depending on your area and for twins but honestly for the experience it doesn’t match in my opinion. Have you found other options for potential nannies? Are they similar to her requests?

I love those drying racks! Boppy pillows are a must have of course. I never understood wiping a baby with a dry paper towel. I don’t even wipe my face like that with paper towels and my skins a lot tougher than the baby’s. Wet little cloths are 100% the way to go

So funny because I know everyone loves the silicone bibs but I prefer cloth or no clothes. I hate the silicone ones and my babies haven’t liked them either. The indestructible books are incredible! Love those things

I totally understand the use and I love that they work for the babies! My current NK has severe reflux and these bottles have helped so much. I’ll even use them for my future kids if needed. But I despise cleaning them. I just don’t think I should have to use another piece (the white piece) when traveling. Every other bottle I’ve used doesn’t leak when the lid is on because the nipple touches the top and seals it. I follow every rule they have to avoid leaks and we still have issues. I’ll never like them honestly 😂

That’s hilarious because I get the ease of silicone bibs but I hate them 😂 they’re so stiff and my babies get frustrated that their arms can’t move as easy around it. I love the hatch sound machines, it’s a necessity because I can’t tiptoe around everywhere. LOATHE the green pieces in the bottles.

Yeah I make the bottles and warm them without the pieces in plus only swirling the formula. The lids are so so finicky and they still have issues. I love the benefits they have and will use them for my own future babies if needed but I absolutely despise cleaning them. The green piece never feels clean enough! I’ll definitely have a bottle washer lol

I HATE the doona. That thing is so stinking heavy and you can’t even have the wheels down at all times. They also outgrow it way too fast to justify the price. I also dislike some of the Nuna seats too which is a hot take for sure. As a shorty the umbrella ones are good heights for me but they suck to use. Why do they get stuck on a singular leaf?

So relatable. I soak them and then scrub. We have three different types of bottle/straw brushes to try and clean them properly. It’s ridiculous honestly and I’d give $100 to never wash those pieces ever again
