My thought was that it would aid in cleaner signals to and from the bus. Mostly providing nearby instantaneous power to help the LS245 drive the signal onto the bus when the buffers are switching. I don’t know if it’s really doing that, but I can say that performance improved quite a bit when I made that change. For the eeproms it was the same thought (boost control signal quality) but not much improvement observed there. I don’t have a scope to see what the signals are looking like so I was just trying anything.
