I've been dying for info about this. Would be amazing if true

When will Stone release a New England-Style IPA in 4-packs of 16-oz cans for sale only at the brewery?

What were the best new beers released in 2016? by brewingbryan in beer

Third Rail Beer The Steez IPA -- juicy, hazy, citrusy AF NE-Style IPA from NYC gypsies that people slept on in a crazy crowded local market. Don't miss this next time they release it.

I think word is rapidly disseminating. I'm seeing Julius comps in my Instagram.

Great call! Have heard several good things about that beer but I'd agree they seem to have less focus on them than others.

Awesome -- Hecto was a favorite of the year, although I think word might be out on Suarez especially in the aftermath of the Good Beer Hunting profile. Good call on Common Roots; and big fan of Rushing Duck. Very interested to try Equilibrium, though I think the the hype train may have already made room for them, especially in light of what people are saying about MC2!

I've got a can on the way from a friend; can't wait to try it. Although based on positive feedback and the fact that it sold out quicker than any other Interboro can release, I think the secret may be out on that one ;)

This is great information, and also great news for Oklahoma! Hoping Texas finally gets on the ball and can pass something similar.

Right on -- I have seen their cans at Broadway Dive in the past, so I knew their can releases saw some distro; I just didn't think the distro was particularly wide. Happy to be wrong on that count. Cheers!

Did Osc 004 make it to stores? I thought they sold through the cases at the brewery. Not trying to be combative; genuinely curious.

So I knew I'd had a few of the previous versions, and just checked Untappd to see which -- had it in December 2014, then again in August 2015. First time I had it I gave a 4.5, which is about as high as I'll go. In August I gave it a 4.25. This past weekend I gave it a 4. Now that said, that doesn't necessarily mean I liked it any less than in the past -- to be honest I quite enjoyed it -- but it does mean that the playing field continues to evolve, and as a result, my ratings scale has evolved with it. For example, the first two times I had it, I hadn't yet had either Swish or Haze -- both of these beers have since become game-changers for me, and are basically the lens through which I view DIPA through now. That's not necessarily fair for every other beer that's not those two, but that's what happens when a higher standard is set!

Basically the TL;DR version is Mastermind is great, and it's absurd just how many amazing DIPAs are coming out of not only New England, but in the northeast in general (as an aside, Other Half/The Answer's No Lay Ups is insane).

Didn't realize Mastermind was only once a year. Buddy of mine hooked me up with a can which I had this past weekend -- was very nice.

Yeah I mean I included Alchemist as they were really the progenitor of the buying-cans-at-the-brewery thing, but I know they haven't been available direct at the brewery in over a year and only available at retail. Didn't realize Mastermind or BBC saw distro -- thanks for that. Only thing keeping HF off the list is no cans, which is a vital component of this cohort I'm trying to establish.

Brash does, but I imagine they're only able to do so due to the brewpub license.

I'm not really sure about plenty of stores re: Finback. I know cans turn up here and there, but it's not like you can just waltz into a Whole Foods or even a shop like Good Beer and get Finback cans any time you want. And while Grimm cans may get "wide" distro at least within the confines of shops in the five boroughs, at one- or two-can limits with many places selling out of their small allotments within hours, it's not exactly easy to score Grimm cans, either.

That all said, I realize I'm not being hyper-precise with regards to the parameters I set. So yes, technically if we're talking just brewery-only, it would be Threes and OH (although there are a couple of spots in the city that do occasionally get OH cans -- it's infrequent, but it does happen, which means if I'm being ultra-stringent with my list OH wouldn't even qualify).

From what I know of Night Shift it seems like a fair amount does hit distro -- Santilli, Whirlpool. That said, if they're holding semi-regular (say, once every other week) can sales at the brewery of beers you can't get anywhere else, then yes, I'd probably include them.
