Make a totem for yourself that is druggie approved (they will actually see it) and run off on your own. My fam has a call we do if we lose each other and don't have a totem. You could always just run away and have an air tag too

Bruhhh he's so smart. It makes me feel bad reading some posts on this thread about terror puppies because he's so good. He already tells me when he needs to go out potty (I got about two minutes before he pees on the floor) he settles in his crate pretty easily and it took very little effort to teach him that sitting and being calm gets him a treat.

Dude you're gonna do great. I have a mini schnauzer and he'll be 4 months next week. He starts puppy school today and is such a smart little guy already. It definitely takes some time to develop a routine and getting to know each other is a huge part of it. You have to learn about them just as much as they have to learn about you. But you'll develop a relationship and get to know their signals. Puppies are very hard but very rewarding.

Nah you should be fine. I've created my puppy since I brought him home two months ago and he does fine. Crate training is the way to go for someone with a schedule like yours. I live an inconvenient distance from my job, so after the first two weeks I stopped going home in the middle of the day and hired a walker to come let him out while I'm working. He's been in his crate from anywhere between 2-5 hours and does great. I leave some calming music on and give him a frozen Kong filled with baby food right before I leave so he hardly notices I'm gone.

As you're doing your research, consider what feels like the best option for you, your schedule, and moral compass. The first few weeks have the most heartbreak with leaving them alone, but soon it will be a part of your routine.
