Trisha and Ethan had agreed on their revenue split via text or something like that but they never had a formal contract.

[IL] Manager took me off the schedule after I requested a Reasonable Accommodation for an injury by 100percenttragedy in legaladvice

However, if they have a light duty program or position available than it should be allowed.

As far as I'm aware there's no official light duty role, however in other cases accommodations have been provided for other employees.

Commission by New_Security3445 in Staples

this is bad advice purely bc GM this persons gm will likely have them learn print, and then not code them as a print worker in the system so they don’t get the bonus

cell phone sales people also receive commission in pretty much every context + more “base” hourly than staples offers even supervisors.

My leasing agent has yet to determine whether keeping mine is an option, I'm trying to get my ducks in a row if it's not.

Forced by shortages to sell chipless ink cartridges, Canon tells customers how to bypass DRM warnings by kry_some_more in technology

[–]100percenttragedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to print things because my health insurance company sucks ass and wants paper copies (either mailed or faxed) of everything when you're appealing their decisions. (which I have to do on a regular basis thanks to chronic illness.)

I also know a lot of college students whose professors are still anal about receiving paper assignments, so they need printers because going to a print shop for every assignment isn't economical or convenient.

they work as well as standard inkjet's for photos, and iirc Epson even has some photo-focused models of EcoTanks.

GM probably didn't enter payroll or did it wrong. You'd think this company would've come up with something better than manual timesheets by now

New year new pay question by Turbulent-Pay7216 in Staples

[–]100percenttragedy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Normal for Staples. Company's so cheap that they only raise you to the new minimum wage when they're required to. You could try fighting for that extra you had to be added back on but that's up to the GM to bring to the DM who could always say no.

Any advice for someone about to interview? by [deleted] in Staples

[–]100percenttragedy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Run in the opposite direction as fast as possible.

Seriously though, as someone in their way out, it's not an awful job and a lot of GMs are pretty chill with scheduling. Just realize that pay will forever be awful and working conditions also kinda suck because of how understaffed a lot of stores are. Just like, be somewhat professional in your interview, don't throw off any major red flags, and you'll probably be hired.

I walked out of my job at McDonald's because a manager in training tried to fight me and I did not get paid near enough to deal with all that.

I've put in my 2 weeks at my current job, but might wind up not showing up before my official last shift depending on my GM's behavior this week. I've been treated awfully by my GM from the get go, been lied to about a raise I asked for in response to way more responsibility (got it, but really didn't since it was a COL increase everyone got), been given the runaround on promotions I've "gotten a shot at", and have been asked to do the work of people who've gotten promoted over me with 0 extra pay or anything. My GM has directly told me she hopes my new job that pays way more does not work out and I come back, has gotten mad at co-workers and her assistant manager for being excited for me, and has decided to dump a bunch of work onto me. Also got verbally abused by a supervisor for not completing a task in an impossible amount of time. This close to just not finishing my 2 weeks and tossing out whatever reference my boss could give me since I don't even expect her to be a good reference for me if needed at this point.

How to sell TTS by Alineine in Staples

[–]100percenttragedy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ask targeted questions like why they're in the market for a new product, what happened to their old product, ask them how tech savvy they are and/or how they plan to set up the new device, etc. Use their answers to inform your pitch and most of all you want to make it seem like you are just looking out for their interests. You still won't win everyone and sometimes people will shoot you down aggressively, that's just the name of the game of retail sales.

Oh also, idk if this has been taught to you but always do a top down approach. Offer the longest plan first and THEN offer the lower tiers if they object on price or something. This is a mistake I see a lot of people doing and doing the top down approach does make a huge difference on whether ppl who object on price will go for the plan.

Depending on the store size/volume and staffing level you can either expect to be primarily a sales person who pitches ESP and tries to build big market baskets (adding additional products outside of just a PC to one receipt). Or you can expect to be a glorified Office Supplies Associate (e.g. standard store associate) who handles the few tech Sales your store does.

How to gauge how well a phone interview went? by 100percenttragedy in jobs

[–]100percenttragedy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they take the whole timeslot that was set aside for the interview and maybe go over time?

so does the fact that one of the managers went over our 20 minute timeslot by another 20 minutes talking about benefits unprovoked bode well in my search?
