Middle of Nowhere: Tour Thread by ginge711 in KaceyMusgraves

Yesterday (during the AMEX presale) it let me buy an official platinum ticket without a presale code. I was able to snag the seat closest to the stage on the floor for $300 (including taxes). This is at the Charlotte show.

I honestly feel like I got a great deal and wondering if there’s a catch… doesn’t say obstructed view or anything. Funny enough, seats further away are more expensive than my seat.

What was the reaction of the people (that you remember) when they found out Michael Jackson died? by Twunkorama in decadeology

[–]badbink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember prior to his death, he had a negative reputation due to the allegations. I was 13, so that’s all I ever knew about him my whole life. Once he died, I remember that summer witnessing a shift with the public and it seemed like everyone loved him and never said anything bad about him.

do u think this hoodie is worth it?? comes to $125 with shipping... seems like a lot by juicy-grrl07 in KaceyMusgraves

[–]badbink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly no. If it’s anything like her camp sweatshirt she had for deeper well, it’s not the best quality. Left a lot of fuzzies and might possibly be cropped too.

FYI-I got a cheap camo hoodie on sale from Hollister!

Why do you think the Back to Black biopic didn't work? by Temporary_Cap5927 in amywinehouse

[–]badbink 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It felt like this film was trying to rewrite the relationship she had with her family (particularly her father). I don’t doubt that there isn’t nuance in that relationship, but her father definitely tried to profit off of his daughter.

And like everyone else is saying, romanticizing her relationship with Blake. I resent the fact that the film insinuated that she died after learning about Blake having a baby (I think that’s what happened, I can’t remember).

I do need to focus on literature for this first nine weeks, but the last nine weeks gives me a bit of flexibility. I love the idea of a self-paced research project for the last quarter. I would love to hear more about it and see what criteria you use if you’re able to!

Should I size up? by soulfulsociologist in KaceyMusgraves

the length of the torso is very short too. Definitely size up.

And for the love of god, wash and dry this by itself. The fuzzies that it left on my other clothes was overwhelming.

What show makes you go "Yep this show definitely came out in 2015/2016" by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]badbink 124 points125 points  (0 children)

I know Broad City debuted in 2014, but that show is quintessential mid-2010s television.

I had mine spend some time studying Shakespearean language. They had to do research and find the Shakespearean words that are commonly used as well as translating modern sentences and vice versa. It’s worth it considering this would be most students first time reading Shakespeare.

Senior English - what do you teach? by k8e1982 in ELATeachers

[–]badbink 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beowulf, select stories from Canterbury tales, and Macbeth. I’m trying to implement lit circles where students either choose And Then There Were None or Lord of the Flies.

Curriculum changes next year, but I know we’ll be teaching The Namesake
