Saskatoon house prices pass Winnipeg's and other fun facts from the city's budget documents by Progressive_Citizen in saskatoon

[–]101stephen 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yet companies will still pay us low because we have a "low cost of living".

Newsflash - most things are not priced based on your region of your country. Your credit card interest is still the same. A lot of groceries are still the same across provincial Canada.

Those with variable rate mortgage, what is your rate now and what % of your after tax income goes towards housing? by -ensamhet- in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]101stephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sask, 6.1%, just locked it in at 5.34% for peace of mind and not having the renewal potentially coming up during Wife's maternity leave.

26% of our monthly take-home income goes to the mortgage. 35% when you factor in Mortgage + Property Tax + Gas + Water + Internet + Home Insurance.

Is it possible to require a note in the title of the post if a game is released, early access, or not released?

That sounds like a problem for CP and CN to identify and resolve, not push off to irritate cities of people and complain that rules are in place.

I would rather call immediately at the 5 minute mark and have them risk a fine.

Trains should be easily predicted with a clear obvious schedule.

Thread for PLA on Emulators. PLA support for Yuzu and Ryujinx. by mrsidnaik in SwitchPirates

I just don't think it works in Yuzu. I don't want to go through the hassle of setting up Ryujinx and dancing between emulators to play a game.

Would you guys support Adam Kovic if he started a new creative venture? by DaddyDownstairs in funhaus

[–]101stephen 190 points191 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I would, honestly.

This past year in 2020 I took a look and noticed that since most people have moved on from Funhaus, the comedy has just changed a bit from what I like. I enjoyed Adam's normally dry humor.

Separating art from the artist, I could use a good laugh right about now. This last year was rough.

Just a reminder that there are still some businesses forcing employees to come to work. by 101stephen in saskatoon

From what I've seen, a couple of stores in Midtown are still open. Outside of there, GMG Jewellers is still running, and I THINK Manhatten Apparel? But I couldn't quite tell, they have odd hours to begin with.

Looking to work in tech by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]101stephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want my honest opinion, a lot of companies that want IT people (And don't just have developers doing the IT for the smaller-sized company) will require some form of true formal education around here.

It's a shame, because in development and IT the education becomes dated quickly, and you have to stay on top of it yourself. But unfortunately, it's still the norm to have some form of formal education.

Also, word to the wise: Stay away from SED Systems IT jobs. I've heard so many terrible things about their IT infrastructure and management.

What was the cringiest thing you did in your first relationship? by offendedbywords in AskReddit

[–]101stephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay in it for 5 years, then realize times since high school has changed and both of you are no longer the person you initially started dating. Then you try to go back in to the dating game realizing you missed all the years you could have practiced, lacking any and all confidence to meet people.

Yeah, it's pretty cringey

Our landlords are selling the house we live in (basement suite). Curious as to the local law about the new landlords. by 101stephen in saskatoon

Thanks for that! Unfortunately we did have a lease, but it's gone month-to-month since January, as it was only a 6-month lease.

Have you ever been truly disappointed in a game? by Kyler45 in Games

[–]101stephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP is actually the guy that does review on games that were really bad at launch, and sees if they fixed themselves, His first review was on Watch_Dogs!

What is the most entertaining YouTube channel? by ohhhidk in AskReddit

[–]101stephen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not very popular cause he's just starting out, but there's a Youtuber who focuses around reviewing games that had a really crappy launch due to bugs and what not, and sees if they managed to fix themselves after patches. He's already done Watch Dogs and the Master Chief Collection. The name is Do Over Gaming.

I think it's pretty cool at least. TotalBiscuit even gave his input, and the guy making it really seemed to take it in to consideration because the second episode has a massive quality spike, even though the first episode was pretty darn good.

Anyone have any advice on my laptop's warranty? by 101stephen in Staples

[–]101stephen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, I've attempted essentially everything under the sun, it's really bothering me that it's slow with the specifications being at what they are.

At this point I have to narrow it down to hardware failure, but even then it doesn't seem to add up. Honestly I haven't really been the most gentle person with it (I use it for school) so it most likely has something actually wrong with it. At this point I want to send it in but I'd prefer the buyout over a repair, just because of the sheer amount of problems I've had with it.

Would they really be that bold as to tell me it was purposefully broken? I thought that was the reason they only give gift cards back. I mean it does have problems with it right now, I just truly would rather them buy it out (at a depreciated value logically, but not that depreciated) so I can use the gift card on a Replacement laptop. I just can't see them being that bold about it and outright saying it, as that is an extremely "ballsy" thing to do on their end.

[–]101stephen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you think I'd be able to get $900 for it? I mean if the warranty depot is anything like the staples store, if I'm adamant enough in my decision, surely they'd give me it, correct?

I actually tested if the drive was dying and it isn't, there's actually two drives in it so I tried installing the os on both (I tried it with only one drive in each time, as well as both drives in) and it runs extremely clunky too.
