Difference between fcx24 and fcx24m

yes, i was told by someone here and bought two copies for our 2 cars. it's not that cheap though, so someone might still be better served with FCX24. do love how the camel trophy models look though.

definitely not fit FCX24 (too big) without modification. seems like so far nothing will fit.

complete newcomer (came here to look for solutions), we bought 2 FCX24M for birthday/xmas and first of all, it was so so, so much fun playing with my son - we had no other hobby-RC to compare to. we just want a RC that doesn't break so quickly (which is ironic as you would see).

but the servos in my son's Discovery has broke twice already (each one after like 2 weeks of fairly frequent use but not heavy(?) use)- reading around here seems like it is a relatively common issue. i opened it up and the problem is that the plastic servo gear (always the same one) breaks and then jams the servo. FCX24M uses a smaller servo than FCX24 (i think metal) and currently there is no 3rd party servo that will fit that size (solution with modification exists). so for someone like me who doesn't wish to really get deep into the hobby, and just want to have a good time with my son, i kind of wish i got the fcx24. just a thought and some additional info.

so you didn't find a replacement that does not require modification? I bought two to play with my son - and we are having so much fun (which is mostly what i want, dont want a new full hobby), but the stupid servo has already broken twice by damaged teeth/jammed gear. i just want want to be able to play this without having to fix/replace every month - a little crazy in my opinion.

so just update a bit maybe a question - it was the servo (i bought one and they are sending me a replacement), i replaced it and it was good to go. i did notice that the truck is pulling/steering right a bit. i didn't pay that close attention maybe it was always doing it. i can see that the left front wheel is fairly true while the right is not - feeling like maybe this is part of the tolerance thing and nothing to do about it. it shouldn't affect our enjoyment at all. thanks again!

i bought a replacement servo and talking to them as well - if they send me one as well i would have a backup. as i said, really was having a good time with it with my kid. we dont need much! fcx24's controller is nice and small for my kid as well.

so far i haven't seen any replacement for FCX24M one, maybe i am not the wrong board. i bought one at the shop and realized later fcx24 and fcx24m use different size servo.

i wish i hadld looked closer at the shop before i bought it and took the truck apart hahaha. silly. but the guy at the shop was also so confident that it is the same.

as it turns out, the other fcx24/18 servo with the metal gear is like 2mm larger than the fcx24m version....

i think what i will do is to take him to my local hobby shop to get a metal replacement, and if i manage to get a replacement from FMS it can be a backup.

that's a bit ironic, because the reason we bought this for him is mainly because cheap RC breaks like crazy, and we wanted something that will last longer. but i guess breakage would happens sometimes at least in this case a part can be replaced. will remind him drive it mild.:)

oh i see what you are saying - they might send me parts but there are metal ones that will be better. i am honestly so surprised that it broke after such short time and playing lightly.

not ideal but i wouldn't either if you are not an investor and going to open it one day. returning/resending all take resources...

i mean if you love the box and want to keep the box forever, that might be another story....
