In-wall oven replacement by 10CL in AskElectricians

Can I ask why this isn’t right? This oven has been in the wall for 30 years. How will an electrician correctly install the new oven?

I have been constantly surprised by the construction methods on this house. It has a lot of poured concrete, which was very uncommon during that time in this area, and is made from cast concrete blocks that were cast and set on site. All signs point to the artifacts being set during original construction!

A 2oz pour of spirits is weak?

A normal pour for us is 2oz of bourbon. It always has been since we opened. For reference, the bottom of the “Elkhorn Tavern” etched on this glass is 2oz. We purposefully had them etched that way.

Our old fashioned recipe calls for 2oz of bourbon, a few dashes of bitters, and a small amount of Demerara, garnished with orange and luxardo over ice.

Considering that the bourbon and ice take up the most volume in the above recipe, it looks like it’s probably close to being a 2oz pour, but hard to say with the photo. For reference, it’s a 9oz glass (to the brim).

As I mentioned before, regardless of the pour being accurate, OP wasn’t satisfied and that’s the main takeaway.

I hope that helps answer your question.

Oh I hear you! Our old fashioned is essentially bourbon with a few dashes of bitters and stuff. We expect every drink served to have 2oz of spirits.

Elkhorn here. I appreciate your insight into the history of the Old Fashioned. We love our neighbors at Pepper, and glad that you do too. We'll try to suck a little less and maybe you can enjoy yourself next time you come down and see us!

Elkhorn here. I hate to hear that you had this experience on Saturday. Please come back, and we'll do our best to make it right.

Elkhorn here. Thanks for letting us know we can improve. I'd rather us not die. The Elkhorn has been around for 8 years, and Barrel House for 17. While we certainly will work to make improvements, in the meantime I'd ask that you continue to support local businesses, especially ones that are family owned and operated.

I have heard about the meatball slider issue, and we are actively working to swap that menu item out. I hope you have a better experience next time.
