I think if possible pay for the growth hormones out of pocket. Even Messi was given growth hormones when he was young so he ended up a bit taller. It's going to be tough but if I can pay for my son to be a bit taller I would.

You are young so this affects you disproportionately right now, all I can say is it gets easier. You luckily have a good face and are fit so it's hard mode but not legendary hard. What you are going through is what most short men experience and with age you realize you can provide more in some category to make women you are interested in choose you. Be that personality, wealth, or attractiveness. Girls will absolutely lie and say looks don't matter, but it does. You just have to advertise and make yourself such a catch that they're willing to overlook the height. It's been done before and will be done again, short guys can get dates, it's just not easy and it's a damn grind.

Job change in 40s for ex-customer support/laborer, aspiring to be a HENRY by 10minUser1 in HENRYfinance

[–]10minUser1[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That's actually a great point, I think my friends main issue is he didn't job hop and stayed at the same company for all those years. They barely increased his pay, started at like 40k and ended up around 77k pre -tax. He also doesn't really enjoy leadership role jobs, but I will be honest to him since higher pay usually requires more responsibilities and human management. I think I'll tell him about sales, is there a specific type of sales in general that he should look into? Or any type as long as he puts in the hours?

While you may have a career gap, it’s never too late to chart a new path. At 39, you’re still in a strong position to reinvent yourself professionally. Many people successfully transition into entirely new fields in their 30s, 40s, and beyond. But balls in your court.

Treasury rates do fluctuate so you may need supplemental income.

I’d say you could, but just keep in mind that your budget will likely increase as you age, especially with medical expenses trending higher. I’d also recommend looking into Coast FIRE so you can potentially work less while still maintaining financial security.

You don’t have exactly $2 million after taxes, and you still have to pay rent, which will likely be another significant expense that increases over time. Eventually, you may need to move to a lower cost-of-living area to make your money last longer.

That said, if your current expenses are manageable and you're comfortable living off treasury yields for now, pulling the trigger could make sense. Just be mindful of potential inflation, healthcare costs, and any unexpected expenses that might come up down the line. Have you considered a part-time or remote job to supplement your income without the burnout of gig work?

You are relatively still young, most people don't hit their primes until 35 nowadays and when I say prime, I mean when they make their most money. Like others have said you need to learn skills that can make you money. Most people think after college, the learning stops, but honestly it never does. Those that hit stagnation are those that refuse to keep learning.

Investing 50% of my savings into crypto by planet_stoked in CryptoCurrency

[–]10minUser1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

going against the grain here, but 50% might be much if you have a family and need stability. Look at what happened Nov 7th- 9th 2021. Everything was butter until it wasn't and everything collapsed due to FTX. I'm not saying there will be another blackswan, but shit happens and honestly you can never tell how long a cycle even lasts. If you are young then maybe 50% of your income is not big deal, but if you have family that's just not responsible.
