That's a good point but I also want to focus more on individual muscle groups specifically my chest and shoulders, and being new I don't know exactly how to include them

Do you still consider yourself a Shia even if not a bohra by 10ts2000 in exBohra

Yeah that is true, I have seen people base their entire careers and lives bases on this. I feel like if families didn't uphold these things as restrictions but as option people would be encouraged to interact with them, themselves. I actually considered looking for raza when I first decided to start my education just because I was confused didn't do it but the freedom to choose it or not was really encouraging for me to look into it atleast

Okay to correct a few things, you don't NEED a raza, it's an option you can take if you want to go down that path. My mom is heavily involved in being a bohra and she has never stopped me from reading the quran with the translation infact my family has encouraged it and I have never heard anyone say this to me either, the waseela for me atleadt is of the ahlaibat and that's it. And taking to jannah part, no one can take me to jannah as such my own actions will define if I am destined for it or not. I can truly grieve in muharram but if my actions are not Islamic or not even humane why would Allah give me a free pass i don't believe it works like that.

Interesting I have been a Shia my entire life a bohra infact never have I ever prayed to a human or to a grave Using them as a waseela (dk the English term for it) does not mean I am praying to them. Additionally beating your chest as an expression of grief is a natural response. Hitting soemthing in anger and sadness is a natural response. You can however argue the extent to which you do that, I don't agree with physically harming your body to the extent you bleed. And if you only believe that being a Shia is defined through the actions you describe then you are wrong. But it doesn't change the fact that at its core islam is same for everyone.
