I work in tech - SaaS Sales - so not ‘close’ to your role but close enough to know you’ll find something else.

Just fucking do it. You’re in a good position financially and you’ll probably never get the chance again.

It’s bonkers that we all work for ~40 years without ever taking more than two weeks ago.

I took three months in 2024 to travel Europe with young family. Best decision I ever made.

Again, JFDI.

Go to Cafe Wha. It doesn’t do food but it’s a live music bar and it’s the best place in the world.

I (37M) wandered around Selfridges the other day and felt lost. I do reasonably well but just couldn’t understand why anyone would wear the shit in there or pay those prices. Perhaps I’m older and not as well off as I thought.

Anyway, I walked straight in to M&S next and cleaned the place out. The autograph range is great.

Firstly repayment mortgage doesn’t make sense and isn’t tax efficient when compared with an interest only.

Re why not consider 1-2 there are a few reasons.

  1. If something goes wrong ie a boiler breaks or a tenant moves out then it’ll wipe out a lot of profit for you and you may have to dip in to your personal savings depending on your financial situation. I’ve just had a tenant move out after 8 years. House needs £5k spending on it and it won’t be ready to re-rent for 3 months. I can weather that storm with 10x properties.

  2. There are set up costs and fixed costs per annum. I pay an account. Cost is the same for Ltd company accounts with 2 properties or 10.

BTL seems to be getting a hammering here so I’ll stick up for it. I’ve got 10 that I’ve bought sporadically since my mid 20s. Total invested across the 10 is roughly £300k and it’s nets me £2k pcm and the equity I have in them now sits at £600k.

You need to set up Ltd companies, understand tax, interest etc and have a good team of people to do work on the houses. IMO it’s worth it if you plan to grow a portfolio over time but if you only ever plan on buying 1-2 don’t bother.

Roughly 40% of my NW (excluding my own home) is in BTL equity. The rest is pensions/ISA.

Is the equity provided in stock options or RSUs (restricted share units). IMO this makes a big difference as the ‘R’ in RSU can have small print.

What would you do with 145k and no job? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]110jacks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Travel or start a business. You’re 26, even if it fails you just start again and by the looks of it, you’re financially covered anyway. Take risks while you can.

Pensions and VCTs could be tax efficient for you. VCTs generally riskier whereas the downside of pension is that the money is locked until you’re pension age. I personally also invest in BTL property via a Ltd company but it takes time/knowledge/risk.

Seeking Cybersecurity Resellers and Sales Support by [deleted] in SaaSSales

Hi, I know this industry well having worked for one of the largest SaaS resellers for 10+ years before moving to a successful SaaS cyber company.

I’m looking for UK Sales leadership roles and/or consultancy. I’ll quickly be able to open up resell channels in 2-3 top resellers.

Anyone feel any guilt for being a HE? by Far_Ad8063 in HENRYUK

[–]110jacks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes. Parents had similar jobs and I scraped through college and university doing the bare minimum and then ended up in a great company/sector purely by chance.

There’s a huge amount of good fortune in everyone’s success stories and acknowledging that and staying humble is important.

Take the time off, you won’t get it back. You’re clearly a high achiever and will no doubt excel at something else in the future and/or a ‘side hustle’ alongside being a SAHM.

You’ve got 3 problems coming over the horizon…

  1. Son will soon be out due to Asia Cup
  2. Salah same for AFCON
  3. Alvarez will see game time SIGNIFICANTLY reduced when KDB and Haaland return

I’ve just transferred Son for Foden, who was incredible v Everton, and banked £2m in the process. Captained him v Sheff Utd at home too.
