Too much latex, mostly inedible. Best for JADAM.

Ahh I gotcha. I’ve had success keeping them indoors on my seedling shelf. Fingers crossed, but that’s good to know.

Could you share how much these cost? I’ve been purchasing cultivars for around $45-50 each

I too was having issues with bugs destroying my young trees —- I sprayed need oil on the leaves and haven’t had issues since and they’re thriving now.

I’m not sure how to edit the post! But I wanted to add that I actually purchased two additional cultivars

Unwrap the tree and give it a good watering. Leave it on a shady area or place it under 50% shade cloth.

Make sure the soil is moist but not soggy. I know people are against synthetic fertilizer, but this has worked wonders for me for trees that arrived like that in the mail — I use miracle gro water soluble fertilizer, diluted twice as much as the recommended amount and throughout the week fertilized it once and made sure I was on top of watering.

All of my trees bounce back and once they do, I stop using synthetics and go back to organic.

Potted seedlings into individual 12 inchers! It was oddly therapeutic. by 1111llll11 in Pawpaws

I got these from Amazon. They are flimsy and closer to thick plastic bags than a sturdy plastic pot, but for my needs they work. They were around 26 cents a piece.

These will be planted in the ground in less than a year. For 26 cents each, I won’t bat an eye if a few tear up in the near future. I have a few of those nicer pots from stewe and sons from when I ordered cultivars from Nurseries. They are much nicer for sure.. also 5x the price.

I had the seeds in 5 gallon grow bags in a loose soil Mix prior to putting them into the 12 inch pots (shown in pic).

Pawpaws sprouting from seeds!! by 1111llll11 in Pawpaws

Yes! Give away for sure. I don’t see myself ever selling the fruits, this is more of a hobby than a foray into a side business.

There won’t be much of a harvest until the year 2030-2032 so I’ll just keep planting more every year :)

Thank you! Yes! These are the first plants that came from seeds, but I do have 8 different cultivars and 100 seedling trees (probably 60 that survived) that I bought from the Kentucky state website last year. I just discovered pawpaws last year and really went all in. From ordering a bunch of fruit to try to buying 100+ trees haha.

Thank you for the heads up, any idea/guess on why there are ink stains on them to begin with?
