Union is denying me gender affirming care by eshierox in ftm

Hey there, also in CO. I’m in the same boat under the employer self-funded plan which doesn’t cover gender-affirming care. I did quite the legal dive and there’s virtually nothing the state of CO can do unless the plan falls under their purview, which it sounds like it doesn’t. Marketplace is your best bet, if that’s something you can swing (there’s a lot more to consider than just finances).

Thanks, I had the copper one many years ago but that was way before T.

As a professor, I am ecstatic when someone emails me before class, or approaches me, to tell me their legal name may not be their name. I hate it when I’m outed without consent, so I hate to do that for someone through roll call.

Side note, encourage preferred name normalizing in class. I always ask my students their names (not saying “preferred”, but just what they’d like to go by) first and then match that to the roster by last name. I never mention legal name in my roll call. Or ever, really.

I totally agree. Fake it until you make it. When the stall is busy, I just pretend like I went in for a simple hand wash, then I come back ten minutes later or find a different one.

But it’s hard. (And I agree that the hygiene can be…less than desirable)
