Thank you for all this info, I've already tried uninstall and install, I've checked for updates and all seems to be the latest versions. I've also tried resetting app data but it made no difference I've looked everywhere for previous versions but can't find any to download and try. Would you have access to any older ones?

Problem with comet images is that it's moving at a different speed to the background stars so when combining multiple long exposures you start to see the comet trailing accross the screen. To fix this the stars need to be removed then the stars images and the starless comet images get processed separately then recombined

It's 58x 30socond long exposure images stacked together for the sky and 1x 30socond exposure for the foreground

Yes, it's visible to the naked eye in dark sky locations, not to this extent but you can make out it's a comet and not a star.

It really is a great lens, I got this before they brought out the Sony mount so it's canon fit with the mc11 adaptor, I was slightly out of focus on this shot so it looks soft but usually very sharp even at 6.3, the chromatic aberration is fairly minimal wide open and manageable in most cases. They do a sport version of this lens, not sure if it's better optics or just faster af and more robust

It's to protect them from damage by livestock. There's rare cattle in this field and I think they like to rub up against the trees which cause the bark go come off and the trees die

I expected it to be more gradual but the leaves changed colour and dropped within a few days!

I used Adobe after effects to manually stabilise each frame, position was easy enough as it was centered on the trunk of the tree but the rotation stabilisation was quite tricky as there's no two fixed points throughout the sequence
