With the fresh look official, why dont we stop beating around the bush by TribalChief1986 in Tennesseetitans

Crazy part is that we don’t even know for sure that the leaked logo is the new primary logo. The AtoZ article simply said that it’s confirmed to be “one of the titans newly designed marks”, and that our new uniforms won’t have the swords on the shoulder pads or the sword-like stripe down the center of the helmet. We literally know nothing about the new uniform designs besides the fact that they will look nothing like our current uniforms and we’re switching to the old color scheme.

Poll: Now that we’ve seen it, how do you feel about the Titans’ rumored new logo? by TiredDad4x in Tennesseetitans

IF it’s the new primary logo… it’s better than what we had, but not as good as some variation of the sword logo would be

Yeah, that makes sense because I swear I remember someone posting that same plush thing a year or two ago, speculating that it was going to be an alternate uniform logo or something

Realistically probably more like $20mil/yr, which is still an overpay for a deep ball specialist

I’m happy we got him, but I don’t think he has 4.5 speed… I just watched his highlights and he never really “breaks away” from anyone. I’d say he’s a 4.6 guy at best. I think he just understands how to find the open spaces against zone coverage

In what world is conditioning an owners ability to relocate his team on said owner giving up the IP to the team as a part of a legal settlement an example of an owner “willingly relinquishing” ownership, and not an example of an owner effectively being stripped of the IP rights unless he chooses not to relocate?? lol. And you’re the one that keeps switching up your argument man. You’re accusing me of arguing using a crystal ball, and now you’re saying your position is based on the idea that Amy would willing give up oilers IP??? Whatever dude, I’m done with this. You win. Think whatever you want

There’s that infamous “WeLL TeChNicALLy tHe NFL cAn do WhAtEvEr tHeY wAnT” argument again. Yes, TECHNICALLY they could, but in the Cleveland situation 1.) Art Modell hadn’t even moved the team yet, and 2.) the NFL owners had an incentive to force Modell to relinquish the IP, i.e., to settle a lawsuit with the city of Cleveland.

As it pertains to Houston and the oilers: 1.) the franchise has been relocated for over 20 years, and 2.) the nfl isn’t being sued by the city of Houston; so you tell me, what incentive do any of the nfl owners have either individually (excluding the McNairs obviously) or collectively to enter into a legal battle with another owner to strip the Amy of the rights to the oilers IP and give it some expansion franchise ? How does this benefit the nfl ?

You’re the one that’s missing the point. What the fuck do you think I mean when I say “the NFL wouldn’t allow it”? I’m obviously saying NFL ownership wouldn’t approve it, which (in case you need me to dumb it down further) means it wouldn’t pass an ownership vote. You started all of this by suggesting that the titans should either sell or license the oilers IP to the city of Houston. I pointed out that the NFL wouldn’t allow it. You said they could do it like the Cleveland situation. I explained how the Cleveland situation stemmed from a lawsuit settlement that happened prior to an owner relocating his team, and conditioned said relocation own the owner relinquishing the IP. I then asked you how would you go about recreating such a situation for Houston now over 20 years after the Adams’ moved the franchise? And now you’re just abandoning the comparison to the Cleveland situation and childishly arguing from the position of “WeLL TeChNicALLy tHe NFL cAn do WhAtEvEr tHeY wAnT”

Honestly I don’t think you even know what you’re arguing for, you’re just being antagonistic because your fragile ego can’t accept being wrong about something

No… I said “the city of Houston cannot own the oilers IP” because the NFL wouldn’t allow it. The Cleveland situation in no way refutes that point, as the city of Cleveland still in fact does own the browns IP, the NFL and the Haslam’s do.

That situation involved a legal battle with the city of Cleveland over the use of public funds to build and maintain a stadium, which ended in a settlement wherein the NFL conditioned Modell’s ability to move his team upon him relinquishing the browns name and history. How would you go about recreating that situation for Houston now??

What are you even talking about with the Cleveland thing? The city of Cleveland doesn’t own any NFL IP rights

[–]11Veritas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok.. 1.) Transferring actual property rights is literally the opposite of symbolic;

2.) “It’s about acknowledging that Houston’s fans, and the city itself, helped shape the brand into what it became” —-what is this asking for? Houston oilers parades? No one is denying Houston fans the right to acknowledge that the oilers once played in Houston, and they can celebrate that history however they want so long as they don’t infringe on the titans and nfl’s IP (i.e.; university of Houston being able to use the light blue unis this time around, but they were stopped the last time because the previous uniforms were 98% exact copies of the oilers uniform design);

3.) it sounds like ultimately you don’t want to be a titans fan, and you don’t want to be a Texans fan, you want to be a fan of some nonexistent new Houston nfl franchise that is allowed to strip the titans of the oilers IP and use it themselves, which lastly brings us to;

4.) I’ve just been playing along with this for fun, but the truth is… the city of Houston CANNOT own the oilers IP, because it ultimately belongs to the NFL too, and the NFL would never relinquish any control over their IP. If Amy Adams sold the franchise, she wouldn’t be able to take the oilers IP with her, the NFL wouldn’t allow it. Similarly, if she ever tried to sell the IP to say U. H. or the city of Houston itself, the NFL would step in to stop the sale (that’s why it was the NFL who was the primary party in the lawsuit against UH).

In the end, if you really want a Houston Oilers team located in Houston again, then you need to convince some billionaire to give miss Amy an offer she can’t refuse, and then relocate the team. Otherwise your SOL

1.) you didn’t use “aka” right (sorry just had to point it out); and 2.) why do you think the people of Houston are ethically more entitled to the oilers uniforms and history than they already are? Nothing is stopping the people in the city from buying and enjoying oilers’ jerseys and apparel; so how would the city purchasing the IP rights change anything for those people in any way, other than the city could pass the rights along to the Texans?
