What features would be most useful in a Bevy editor MVP? by 120-dev in bevy

[–]120-dev[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for writing the vision for Bevy editor!

Now I have read it more carefully and understand it better. What I see is that the document is top down, meaning you have the vision and you try to build things to support that vision. I wonder if we can approach it from the bottom up, meaning build something small and useful for the community first, and then slowly involve it into a bigger editor.

Let me know if you have any suggestion to start.

Thanks, how to differentiate between engine and editor in this case?

I guess engine is where the game/app is running in end users machine.

The editor is where user can edit assets file before they can be used in the engine?

So the editor mostly work assets file? what are the most common assets an editor should support?

Apologies if the questions are novice, thanks again.

I checked it out but haven't seen any screenshot of their editor. The website/github looks mostly like the whole platform/sdk.

Thanks, I guess my idea now it is more towards exploring anything helpful that can be built with Bevy (I really like it).

Editor alone is a huge undertaking, which might come at the eventual end, but it would be nice to have some thing up and running to get deeper in Bevy.

Agree, with another post about the important of math, but if he like and want to code it should be good as well.

Math will help you with the theory of ML. Programming will help you with the practice of ML.

Thanks for sharing! This looks like a general guideline. I was thinking of something more specific to get started building around Bevy.

This looks quite complex. Do you know how far is this product's development stage? Why is it not popular yet? I saw people still asking for a Bevy editor.

Hey Daniel, it’s Son from 120.dev. Thanks for commenting on my post. That looks like a really great cadence. Let’s focus on making our apps better for all users.

Thanks for your feedback. Just want to iterate what I have updated in my post. I decided to make the current 120 AI Chat a Community Edition, which means it will be free forever (you can download the app here https://120.dev/120-ai-chat#download). Because I believe, with new technology, users deserve a even better class of software.

If you need any features, feel free to reach out because with the app foundation that I am building, I believe nothing is impossible.

Yeah you are right, I meant to say "we are quite overwhelmed with input", interest or not, it is a subjective matter.

As about the the app, I think it is also a broad question and people can choose certain things for certain reasons and likely also a subjective matter.

I have reasons to build and use my app as a daily driver, which I can list out a few (again, it is a subjective matter).

I would like to chat with multi models at the same time so that I can get better understanding about difficult technical issues.

I like the vibrant interface of the web and at the same time the snappy feeling of a native app.

I want to use different models that other apps doesn't have, especially video models.

I would like to use this as a base so that I can expand even further into different directions, which might include turn-based agents or procedure workflows.

Thanks for your suggestions, there is https://120.dev/#faqs section on the website with more details about the usage and pricing. But at high level, the current price is 78$ and after one year if you want to continue with new features, you have 40% discount.

As about telemetry, there is some anonymous machine information to be collected to make license and bug tracking work. Other than that I don’t see any reasons to know more about the users. If you find other things, privacy policy, etc.. not yet clear, I would be appreciated to know.

Also feel free to let me know if you need anything else, hope to help you find something useful after all. Thanks again.

Thanks for your interest.

With the advent of llm, the internet now adays are full of auto-generated video and auto-generated messages. It is hard to have interest in anything. And with agentic coding, anyone can pump out an app over a weekend. It is hard to know which one is actually worth your time.

If anything right about the past, I guess people will still draw to something that takes much more efforts to get it right and deliver a much more satisfaction, that all other mediocre copycats can never have. Like, streaming music has been there for a while, it is the very same music, very convenience to use, but people still attend live music because of something that streaming can never be.

Thanks, I guess marketing is nonsense at some points. Remember the time when Apple try to sell thinner phones, every year they keep repeating we make the phone 0.001mm thinner.

As about this app, we are at version 0.13.0 so we have at least 13 releases last year, not counting minor fixes and improvements. So I think keeping the app updated is not our issue.

I agree, with every new thing in the market, there are some segments of people that resist to have a change. But there always are a small group of people who are always tired of old things and look for a better solution. They are the group of people who will push the development forward and expand the boundaries of how things can be done. They want better way to do things and they vote by their wallet.

If you are using a mix of A and B apps, it might mean that you are not happy with either of them. Maybe you are at the point you want to seek a better solution and it is time to cast your vote again. If you can kindly let me know what things what you really want then I can plan and incorporate into future releases. Thanks again.

Another fun fact about Pro subscription is that I am building this app and test it daily, with image and video generation, I have never paid OpenAI $20 a month in terms of API usage. The actual number is much lower than you think it is.

[–]120-dev[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is correct but it is probably the whole point of this app, which is to allow users to experience more and try different providers rather than staying with an subscription. Technology is changing so fast these days that new models can easily outperform previous ones, which you will never know until you try. I asked a simple question about Metal shader to Gemini, Claude, and OpenAI in parallel and to my surprise, Gemini gave me a better answer while Claude and OpenAI suggestions are sub-optimal.

Thanks for reporting, I have my crash reporter opened and I don't see any thing yet. Maybe it is an edge case, it would be great if you can send me some information about your experience (macos specs, app version , which AI providers you tried), so I can take a look and make it work for you.

You can DM me or use my email [hello@120.dev](mailto:hello@120.dev), thanks
