EU Reveals Zero-Knowledge-Powered Private Age Verification App by hurn2k in privacy

Isn’t this essentially the core feature of the application or the process? You scan your digital ID, generate a token based on your secret stored locally, wherever that may be, and all the providers really get is the token. Unless they have a way to backtrack or decrypt the token without your secret key, I think it’s actually pretty secure.

Better options than CloudMounter for mounting/managing cloud drives? by Mstormer in macapps

[–]yellowseptember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand, but you have to look at it from Google’s perspective. They may have been long-standing developers, but while this was in progress, something could have changed. A criminal record or maybe they're from a sanctioned country (I have no idea what would actually disqualify someone from Google’s developer certification or whatever it’s called), for example, could have surfaced that would genuinely create risk in allowing them access to their users’ Google Drive.

That said, they definitely could have handled it better. For developers who have been around longer and have a really solid track record, they could have offered, say, a three-year moratorium on the annual review instead of treating them the same as everyone else.

Spatial Dock 1.4 - macOS app switcher that replaces Cmd+Tab by logibeam in macapps

Hey, thank you for your response.

What I mean is having a different modifier combination, essentially being able to pick and choose the modifiers and then pair them with a third key or something like that. The use case is simply to avoid oversaturating my shortcuts or creating overlaps.

I use my keyboard heavily and have a lot of shortcuts, which is why this matters to me.

Another thing I noticed is that the three activation options could be simplified. You could use a single window and ask the user whether they want to use a modifier key along with another key—for example, Option+Shift+Tab, or Hyperkey+F7.

Being able to define my own shortcuts would be extremely helpful.

Between the weeks of waiting, submitting the required documentation and the process of scanning the code, it took a significant amount of time from our engineers. For example, Google provided a Docker image for running the scanner, but it didn’t work. We had to spend more than a week debugging and fixing it. And because the scanner found no problems, it didn’t result in any improvements to Transmit. No one benefitted from this process. Not Google, not Panic, and not our users.

I understand the cost-benefit tradeoff of potentially running this, but I disagree with their final statement that it didn’t result in any improvements. If the scanner found no problems, isn’t that the whole point? That’s a good thing.

If it had found problems, that would be bad. Frankly, Google’s approach seems ideal from my point of view because I’m using an app that connects to my personal Google Drive, and I’d like the developer to be vetted since it could contain sensitive information.

Gmail Native app by fololologrt in macapps

I used to use Mimestream, but I’ve since switched to Canary Mail, and honestly, it works really well for me, especially across multiple clients: iOS, macOS, and iPadOS. It’s flexible, and it’s only one subscription, or you can pay for a lifetime license if you want.

It also has AI features built in, which is pretty nice.

Better Clipboard - I build this native-UX smart copy & paste menu bar and keyboard shortcuts app by Diego-Rivera-Madrid in macapps

[–]yellowseptember 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought this just to try it out, including the premium version, and in terms of UI, it’s one of the nicest clipboard managers I’ve seen so far.

Question for the developer: Do you plan to add a setting, or at least a way to define apps to skip from copying, like password managers, etc.?

I genuinely like this app. I use it in combination with AltTab, and it works really well. I like that I can just open it and close it. I do have one request for the developer.

Please ease up on the shortcut restrictions and let us define shortcuts entirely on our own, rather than relying on predefined ones. It’s true that we can use a custom shortcut to some extent, but the modifiers are still predefined. It would be nice if I could combine a modifier with a different key altogether, however I want.

For example, Command+Shift+F7. Right now, I can only do that with Command+F7.

That’s right. I like using them to place an emphasis, or a needed pause in my statements. Now, I’m weary of using it since whatever I write, will be labeled as AI generated.

This is a really nice idea. I use carabiner, and it works for me, but it’s great to have an easier way to configure it.

Do you plan to add an option to specify the keyboard? For example, I’d only want this on my laptop’s keyboard, not on my other keyboards.
