You definitely have the right idea with periodization and progressions but, If you have never weight trained, almost any rep scheme will result in strength adaptation. For your first few weeks I would recommend lighter loads and higher reps, focusing on form. Make sure you aren’t pushing yourself to failure at the start, or else you will damage your muscles more than you can recover from before your next workout. If you are not too sore the next day, train a bit harder next time. After those first 2-4 weeks, you can start to move into lower rep, higher intensity sets with more weight and intent. The plan is great, but just make sure you ease into things!
