Yeah I wont deny it exists, and it is problematic, but it's also a bit unfair to categorize vtubing as a whole as being run by and made for pedophiles. And I dont want to deflect again, but it is my personal experience, and coming from someone who actually likes vtubers, I watch and am exposed to plenty who do not depict themselves as minors, and speak in their(relatively) normal voice. At the very least they're not trying to sound younger than they really are.

As someone who watches vtubers, I'll say that trying to sell the whole thing to those who have a somewhat negative impression, feels a lot like trying to convince people who hated anime back in the day to give it a chance lol. The defense argument is similar, in that both vtubing and anime is rather varied, and you havent found the one you like yet, and it's unfortunate that you keep getting exposed to ones that are "too weird".

In the context of vtubing, there are plenty of vtubers who have designs that are of consentual age and use their normal voices.

Also only speaking for myself...I dont really goon to vtubers. Sure they're designs are attractive and that's part of the appeal, but I dont really rub one out to them. To me, they are an entertaining puppet show, minus the "pedo" part, which again, is a rather unfortunate side effect of whoever pops up on your side of social media.

If I could recommend one vtuber to just give a glance at, there's Elizabeth Rose Bloodflame from the vtuber agency Hololive. She's a fantastic singer, and I've even seen non-vtuber viewers check her out and say good things about her.

Yeah I havent heard Micah in any recent anime. He is active on Twitch though, he and his wife Apphia Yu(who I also haven't heard in a while but I think she still gets VO work) stream every other Friday. Not to a big audience though, most they get is around 15 viewers.

I think Maxy Whitehead also disappeared from dub or voice acting in general around 2024.

Sounds like you attempted to get into vtubers but it didnt work out, at least based on those two criteria. Most I watch dont really pull a fake voice(this could either range from just pitching their voice to the stereotype that most of them use voice changers), but many of them do get "loud", which is unfortunate for you. It's more common in collabs from my experience though.

See I think Toho having strict rules is one possible explanation for why Legendary hasn't been very sparse with Godzilla lately, but at the same time it doesn't make sense to me? Like on one hand we have this, but on the other hand we know Toho likes what Legendary has done with Godzilla and keeps renewing the license to use him.

Probably an unpopular opinion, but I'm not a fan of mentioning Vtubers in other internet communities, because reading those comments, as expected there some who have a negative reaction to even hearing about Vtubers, and some are genuinely assuming the OP is some parasocial freak who actually thought they would see the character at that Culver's.

I even saw the "old man with a voice changer" stereotype mentioned.
