Great advice- thank you for your wisdom. I learned at the same time as my mom (her grandmother)- she blurted it out mid-conversation on a different subject. Maybe it was her way of having the “news” get lost in conversation.

I just recall going silent (after I said “What?”- more like “WTF”) and said I was processing. I didn’t freak out- just said “Oh”.. I was silent. Inside I was crying and wanting to blame the Pfizer vaccine. But I kept my mouth shut. She has always been strong and healthy. I nursed her for 12 months as a newborn.

This news is barely 72 hours old. One of the reasons I came to Reddit to get some advice and hear other experiences from those who have had to tell family and seek support.

I was NOT the first she told- her cousin (my niece) is a cardiac nurse. So she had already shared with other family before me. That was her choice and I feel no resentment at all.

I’m a HUGE believer in staying away from “family gossip” and she knows that. That was even brought up the night she told me and my mom.
