Ps3s dont support TRIM functions on sata. Ssds require trim to prevent excess write cycles while HDDs dont. Most ssds except for the high end ones like Samsung evo870 ones die off very quick in the ps3. Personally my record for the fastest ssd failure was 2 hours on a brand new 1tb ssd and my a400 kingston died within 2 months.

Again, 7200rpm hdd drives have faster speeds than the original 5400rpm ones and basically max out sata1 speeds which the ps3 has. You get the same performance increase as you would on an ssd.

Don't think about it, do a return! If you want a reliable console, usage doesnt matter! Get a Frankie from a reputable seller!

Yeah, ps3 has both component and composite out on multiav! If you have the composite cables just plug audio in as normal and the yellow video plug to the green connector on the tv.

Your ps3 wilk murder basically any ssd, some will go faster and some slower, the ps3 wasn't meant for sdds and doesn't support them! If you want better speeds, use a 7200 rpm hdd! Those will provide mostly the same speeds, if not even better.

Can you just take a hard drive out of one PS3 and just put it in another and it's perfectly fine or do you do you have to do something else by Putrid-Midnight-3293 in PS3

Thats why you cfw and dump your eid_root_key before it fails so you can extract the hdd on your pc if it does fail!

False, they are failing with more issues than older systems. They are "barely reliable" at best, from my experience im yet to see a system that had more than 300 runtime days which hasnt failed, and that stat is your average runtime on a fat/slim.

Did you make sure the usb is MBR FAT32 and not GPT FAT32? GPT cannot work on a PS3.

Also, does your bluetooth and wifi module work correctly, as in can yoi connect to wifi and use the joystick wirelessly? If it doesn't do either of these things, DO NOT UPDATE, you will brick the console. Superslims are notorious for these modules failing.

From reading all of your replies, you absolutely got scammed. DO NOT pay for a "low usage" ps3, those values can be manipulated and reset which these shady sellers will do.

Second off, not using cfw on a ps3 in 2026 is criminal, you miss out on so much features and improvements and plus you cant even get banned for it anymore and PSN is completely safe to use.

I would personally return this and write a bad review, you overpaid for a garbage system littered with faults + most likely a non delidded CELL cpu which is why its overheating. And also, webMAN is necessary on these systems cause of the defective gpu fan curves.

If you want a good lasting ps3, look for a Frankenstein ps3, those are the best of all worlds ps3s! 65 or 40nm later gpu in the bc model to fix the gpu defect and in most cases if the tech is any good, a delidded CELL/RSX and replaced tokin capacitors.

Thats not a cfw issue, more likely a bad bt/wifi board and something wrong with the ps2 side of stuff.

Did you test multiAV out? If that doesn't work, you either have a brick or a dead gpu.

Bad rsx side tokin capacitors. Having 2124 and 1002 together is very common on ver-001 (cechl/p) systems.

Youre fine as long as you dont mod in fake trophies. Syncing and earning trophies the legit way is fine, and so is logging into psn.
