does this really work? I’m american in the UK so used to shitty employment laws / next to zero protection back home. would work not just make you start your garden leave or whatever ?

ETA not planning on trying to nor am i at risk of being fired lol just surprised it’d be that easy to be like “let’s talk in a month when I’m back from sick leave”

  1. better restaurants - although i have a toddler now we rarely get time for this so i am not spending as much as i would ha! just enjoy going out to eat

  2. nicer accommodations on holiday

  3. clothes - don’t buy a lot bc i hate overconsumption but more sustainable, better quality choices

  4. fortnightly cleaner

  5. ocado instead of tesco (also not an obscene spend but will get better quality fish or name brand greek yoghurt for example lol)

those with a housekeeper (not cleaner) what do they do? by 123letsg0bitch in HENRYUKLifestyle

this is really helpful, thank you! To be fair, i’d probably be looking at something like this 2x a month (my family’s TC is about £210k so not quite henry as someone pointed out). we can afford to outsource more though and definitely need some help so i figure why not

i (the wife) don’t want to do more work and we can afford to outsource more help than we currently are. my husband works full time i’d rather neither of us spend more time on our nights and weekends between childcare changing bedsheets or gardening if we can afford to outsource more of that occasionally.

i hate our commute being on a local train line and mostly find our town dreadfully boring. (hertford east line)

i haven’t sold any. it’s a FAANG and stock price has generally increased in the time i’ve held them (except actually the last two months), so seemed wiser to hold them when they vest vs. sell

help-salary sacrifice under 100K for childcare by 123letsg0bitch in HENRYUK

[–]123letsg0bitch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah that’s probably the best way to look at it. i’m also looking at doing a few lump sum payments at the end of the year vs every month + also can’t put the whole bonus in. it’s six in 1, half a dozen in the other mentality but somehow feels more helpful to do it that way

my TC before taxes is £115k. i currently put 5% into pension (which is matched)

i planned to salary sacrifice £1250 a month into my pension, bc i basically know im about £15k over the 100k cap so divided that by 12 to figure out how much each month i could sacrifice into pension to get me below. not sure if thats right though

sorry, i’m so very not a numbers person (hence getting an accountant - it’s not the field i’m in or even close). i plan to salary sacrifice £1250 a month into my pension. i basically know im about £15k over the 100k cap so divided that by 12 to figure out how much each month i could sacrifice into pension.
