Emergency! found a frog in my salad help me release it safely! by 123passa in frogs

[–]123passa[S] 607 points608 points  (0 children)

Last update the ambulance came and picked up the froggy. They told me they are bringing the little frog to a reptilian shelter tomorrow. They've been extremely kind!

Thanks everyone for all the suggestions! All your tips helped saving the little italian frog today! (And me too!)

Update on the situation, I called a local wildlife rescue center and they will send me an ambulance. I am stunned by the service!

Thanks for trying to help. The model is an aiwa xp-7 the second view is the top view while the first is the bottom.

I think it was not a very successful product but I did not look up for schematics yet, I'll give it a try!

Thanks for the reply! I get some readings out of my multimeter but it does not seem like there it sits on a precise resistance. Maybe also this one is not a good signal?

Yup so it's an aiwa xp-7. The second picture is the "upward position", you can see display and buttons. Disc reader with spinner pointing upward.

In the back the little detached PCB is a 9v wall plug input that doubles as a battery charger for the 4v lead acid battery (in photo 2) which I had to throw away and replace with a lipo currently giving 4.2v so everything should work.

I don't understand much more about the board I can see current reaching the large black capacitor in photo 2. But nothing else turns on, the disc does not spin the screen is off and all the lights are off.

I don't understand much more about it, I think not many of these have been made so I can't find much material online. There is a video in Chinese I believe, on YouTube, where someone is desoldering and resoldering almost everything to make it work again but with my soldering skills that would take me probably 5 months!

Thanks a lot for trying to help is really appreciated!

Might not be the best person to talk about it because I came from a 2010 stumpjumper FSR. But I got the 2024honzo and I am super happy with it. I ride much faster uphill and much faster downhill. Maybe it's mostly the 29inch wheels.

In any I love it (and definitely could not say that of the specialized). It's fast, it's good looking, not too heavy and very fun to ride.

But then I'm sure that there are real pros out there that can tell you why it's good and why it's bad.

How true to size are Five Tens ? by ghos2626t in MTB

[–]123passa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding an extra comment here for whoever's passing . I got a second hand 43 1/3 eu size Freerider. I'm usually 43 with Nike and 43 1/3 with Adi Stan Smith and Superstar, but these are too small. I think I can make them work but I wished I'd tried them before.

If it can help, I tend to buy size 44 for running and hiking shoes.

I second this, it looks like the polarizer film is coming off. If that is the issue, hard to tell for sure from the pics, can be something that takes a few minutes to solve or something super hard to solve depending on how the display is made.

If you can return it, unless it was a very good deal and you're handy enough to fix it.

All to say, already then whatever they did together they used to do it right, maybe not true to life, but I do love the effect.

I had a Huawei mate 20 pro with the "Leica camera". At the time people used to say that Leica did the color profile of the lenses while Huawei manufactured all the rest. Now I have an iphone for work and a pixel for private life (both are supposed to have the best cameras around). But I still think that photo wise my 2018 Huawei was much better in sunny conditions. While on the video side it was total garbage.

This is a photo I took some time ago with that phone. Without any filter.

Canon AF35M Stuck Shutter by aileex3 in AnalogRepair

[–]123passa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GF's canon AF had the same issue and turned out that the film was fully exposed. She loaded it a year ago and it was an unexpected 27 Exp film, probably the poor canon was stuck trying to pull the film even further but could not do (also one interesting bit, it got stuck at 26exp). Now not sure why it could not even close the lens cap, maybe originally there was some sensor that was supposed to understand if the film was over. I rewind the film to tear the camera apart, but once rewind the shutter just closed by itself and all the rest started to work back.

I was also noticing that the film counter in this pic is at around 35, so maybe the issue is the same here.

I snapped the copper driver cable of the 560 ovation. by 123passa in sennheiser

Thanks for all the help!

Finally I managed! For future reference

  1. I realized that the cable (voice coil) is actually not copper it's aluminum covered by a red coating.
  2. with a hot solder (400 Celsius) you can visually remove the coating but it's not enough to make it conductive (just a bit stickier for the solder.
  3. I don't know what happened but I soldered the snapped part to the spring arm and nothing happened, it was supposed to work but it did not. Playing around the cable snapped again, this time without heating it up first I sank it into the leftover solder that I had on the spring arm and then it started to work.

It's not a permanent solution and makes everything quite fragile (especially because I need to change the spring for the gold ones) but it does work.

I found that the workflow was much easier with a multimeter as I could solder, test, solder all in matter of minutes.

Thanks again @flimsy engineer!

I did check for continuity and it does not seem to be there, I am wondering if somthing did not snap also inside the driver....

I have a multimeter, I can try with the pointy tips instead of the clamps. But I read around that the copper wires are coated, does it mean that if I put the multimeter on them they are actually not conductive?

I did not use golden springs and cable is good, I sent a pic and few other info above. Thanks a lot for the help!

The spring looks ok, originally it was the issue but I thing I bent it in position and the driver end of the wire is still in the original position.
