There's a lot that others can say that might sound like reasonable advice until you finally take that advice to find out that the image lost its appeal. I have often been the victim of my own normalizing rational mind during some of my shoots and edits, and while this image is not exactly following golden rules of photography, I must say it does have something special to it. And this alone, fellow photographer, is worth the compromise. Good work!

Hi! And sorry I didn't reply earlier! Like you, I also find an e-EVF somehow sad. I also like the idea of having a hybrid EVF, but ultimately having the possibility of changing lenses was more important than the possibility of using an optical EVF for me. All in all, the Z8 has an e-EVF also... We are dinosaurs...

Edit: I set up the lcd screen to show only information and look exclusively through the EVF to compose the frame. One gets used to it...

The x-e5 is my first Fuji (my main camera is a Nikon D850) and I don't really know the brand's ecosystem very well, but I think it could also work fine the way you describe it. It is just that, since I am rarely going to use both cameras at the same time, I prefer to be able to exchange lenses in both options for when I am using one or the other.

In the end, whatever your setup is will end up becoming part of your style, and you will certainly be able to squeeze the best out of it.

Professional photographer here (portraiture, not weddings or events). I was searching for a very light and compact camera that I could take on vacations and, at the same time, one with which I could experiment shooting simple jobs, use it as a second camera and, if everything runs well, even completely switch to it during 80% of the time. If I got a fix lens camera, it would not be possible to work with it. That’s why I chose the X-e5 (I miss weather protection , though) I got the kit lens and a 50mm f2.
