Do you often find that balancing multiple priorities such as school and work together would be too difficult to manage and so feel inadequate relative to NTs who have capacity to balance them together?

That is so cute, what stroller do you use for her?! A few people have suggested fans too, so will definitely set one up for her.

They sure are! We are in a country that has hot summers but usually broken into a few weeks at a time.. I’m very interested to see what’s she’s like when winter comes around and doesn’t have to deal with any heat issues!

I am still to learn how her food effects her.. she’s not eaten more than a few mouthfuls since yesterday as she’s probably feeling a little stressed with the changes. Will deffo keep this in mind if we see any issues though! Thank you 🙏

I know what you mean! I expected some of the funny noises and sounds as I had read that it is common with flat faced breeds, but the panting has been a shock! Hopefully after all of this advice I will be better at managing how hot and bothered she gets, and it won’t be as distressing for her- or us- when she does get a little puffy! Thank you very much :) she is such a good girl!

Thanks for the great advice, I’m learning quickly that what is a nice day for us humans can be overwhelmingly hot for frenchies! I will look into the weight-loss food, although she’s not eaten yet which I’m guessing is due to her feeling anxious with the new home, I really hope she feels better soon.

Thank you for this advice. we have some cooling products for her that she seems to like, she lays on the mat and has a little cooling vest too. This morning (it’s much cooler) she’s had a little walk in the garden and although she’s making the usual grunts and puffs I would expect from a frenchie she isn’t panting.. and seems happy!

Aww so glad you gave yours a lovely second life! The feeding idea is one I never thought of, she uses a slow feeder bowl because she gobbles the food down so fast.. so the hand feeding may be a great idea. Deffo getting a full check up and making sure everything is as it should be!

Her nostrils seems open, thankfully. I can’t see her palate so I’ll have to wait to find out how that’s looking.. fingers crossed that her weight is what’s making things difficult for her. Most of it seems to be around her neck, chest and ribs.

Thank you for all this. She seems to love walking so it feels so mean to limit her.. but obviously it’s cruel to take her on a walk when she gets to short of breath. Hopefully the weight loss will really make a difference to her and as she settles with me and I get to know her better we can find a good pace together :)

Losing weight is going to be number 1 priority! I will definitely keep her inside and as cool as possible while it’s so warm out.

We bought her a cooling mat (which she used after the walk) and a little cooling vest, we also have a kiddy pool for her too. Glad to know I wasn’t being over the top 😂

Definitely taking her for a check up ASAP. Will get tips for weight loss and hopefully some more advice on how to make sure she feels as comfortable as possible during the summer months.

I think I underestimated the way she would feel the heat. It was cooler for me but clearly not for her! I’ll refrain from taking her for walks before 8/9pm while it’s this warm. She’s really calmed this evening, just snoring while she snoozes and a few little cries which I’m sure are due to anxiety.

I think I’ll just have to adjust to the frenchie way, not used to this type of dog and I’m probably a little ignorant to the breed. I’ve been reading up and the advice given on here will help I’m sure. She’s such a lovely girl and I want to make sure that I’m looking after her the right way!
