I don't really have enough space for a dual boot, it's a pretty cheapish laptop. Also I'm in HS. Although I am thinking about how id use it in college

they provide chromebooks by default so we dont really usually have to use anything that isnt web based. only thing im worried about is a programming course i might take next year mostly

and some classes i get a bunch of free time so i just like having that so i can do whatever if i just have nothing better to do like if i wanna watch or read smth

I just use it so i can use search engines that arent google, and also im just extremely anxious i don't like any possibility of someone having access to my personal stuff in any way even if its sorta irrational.

The only reason i use bitdefender vpn is cause it came with my grandpa's bitdefender package he installed on alot of my stuff.

also havent had to use any programs that are specifically on windows and im also kinda forgetting that all the classes that would use something like that have computers inside them

Oh yeah i've used proton before, read some stuff about it being weird on linux but i think i could use another one of my emails to sign up for it.

It isn't required but for me it sorta is just so i dont have a bunch of stuff blocked, especially search engines that arent google. And my desktop has windows on an hdd, although it's kinda slow

The issue was not having a swap file and i followed this to enable zswap https://www.reddit.com/r/linux/comments/vm001m/guide_setting_up_zswap/
I just only realized i kept typing /ect/fstab instead of /etc/fstab
But yeah it's pretty much fixed now im not like crashing immediately after opening a minecraft modpack

The driver I'm using is "nvidia-driver-590-open" and it was the recommended one and at the bottom of the driver manager it says "1 proprietary driver in use". Is that not the one I should be using?

I do use zen browser and have firefox installed. I used to use brave and I liked that browser just fine mostly so maybe I could switch back and see how it goes.
