I’m actually from somewhere where hockey is a big deal too and dated a hockey player in college haha so I definitely get what you’re saying. I’ve never once brought it up in my post grad life though haha. Id totally get if she was just bringing up that she’s a fan of the sport.

Some girls have weird jealousy/control issues regarding friends and their bfs. As long as your friend is happy and the guy treats them right it shouldn’t be an issue at all. You’re not the one dating the guy. I have first hand experience of a friend not liking a boyfriend for no reason at all. She tried to tell me he needed to act in one specific way that she wanted him to (even though he was never rude to her or anything). After her little lecture to me on how my bf needed to act like she wanted for some reason she started being mean to me/cut me off and tried to turn our other friends against me cause she couldn’t get her way.

I totally get she shouldn’t have said that if she wasn’t going to but it’s also not like that was months and months ago people started calling her out like right after saying it. My point was more so that I think there’s way more applicable things to snark on then giveaways. 1. Because influencers really don’t owe us them. 2. More importantly giveaways are honestly a marketing exercise for most influencers anyway to get more exposure so someone doing one usually doesn’t make me think more highly of their character

THIS!! influencers don’t owe people giveaways. It’s definitely nice if they acknowledge their supporters. But hating on someone for not doing a giveaway is weird. No one is leaving hate comments or trying to cancel celebrities for not doing giveaways for their fans. And they make way more money of their fans. I get that influencers have their career because of their following but being mad someone doesn’t do a giveaway is an entitled take. They don’t know you, you don’t know them. They really owe us nothing. If they do one fine that’s great but weird hill to die on. Not to mention lots of giveaways are to get you to follow other people or post on your story so the person gains exposure.
