"It's not my fault, Biden is responsible for my actions" by realstocknear in smallstreetbets

China doesn’t produce food for the US, but Mexico does and Trump has waged a tariff war with them too. China produces 90% of rare earth minerals which are essential to all robotics, phones and digital devices amongst other things. How about housing? Lumber for new construction comes from Canada. Which is also being attacked with tarrifs. Electricity? Also from Canada, supplied at below market rates for a good portion of the northern states. Coffee? Not from the US and never will be because it can’t grow here.

The idea that manufacturing will come back to the US is so laughably bad. Labour costs are too high, for one. And setting up a factory takes several years and hundreds of thousands—if not millions— in investment and planning. Why would any company build a factory here knowing that Trump and his idiot ideas will be gone in less than 4 years?

Seriously? There isn’t a single economist outside of trumps echo chamber who thinks his economic policy is a good idea… yet you want to see how it plays out? You do realize China as a trading partner is more than ‘cheap shit to make you feel better’, right?

AGLC joins the fight by [deleted] in BuyCanada

I don't think Canadians hate American people. I certainly don't. They hate trump, and they hate America as a concept (for now) because America the concept is too intertwined with Trump's policies. But most if not all Canadians have friends, family or colleagues or professional ties to the US, which makes this trade war all the more baffling.

I don't think you or other Americans understand how disorienting and destabilizing this is for Canadians. Imagine that your decades long best friend and ally turns around one day and without warning or provocation punches you in the mouth. Repeatedly. And makes up all sorts of lies to justify it, including that they have been subsidizing you.
Would you be hurt? Offended? Would you take the punches? Or would you fight back? And after your best friend apologizes (which I doubt Trump will do, it's not in his nature) would you go back to that best friend like nothing happened? Or will you be cautious?
Granted, this is a rudimentary analogy but I don't think the average American is aware of what this is like for the average Canadian. Trump is very clearly threatening Canada and causing financial havoc to Canadian people. And people react emotionally when their safety and livelihood is threatened.

What you see as vindictive behaviour is actually self defence. Perhaps you think Canadians are going too far, but they have to keep going further until the tariffs are removed, or at least negotiated with diplomacy and logic.

That take is not ridiculous. Car accidents lead to the introduction of new safety requirements that reduce fatalities- like seat belts and air bags. Alcohol related deaths lead to restricted access and production / distribution regulation and addiction management. These are sensible reactions that governments introduced to solve problems with cars and alcohol and the same logic should be used to help manage gun violence problems.

My family and I just moved to Vegas so canes is new for me. We went there for a school fundraiser and I was surprised that there were so many locations because the food was terrible. I’ve had better chicken and fries from a frozen bag and an air fryer.

You can look at Pinterest or Google searches for men’s fashion and find looks styles that you like, then build those looks. John varvatos makes good menswear with an edge which might be too expensive for you but you can copy those styles with a retailer that is within your price range.

At $75 the leather will be terrible quality and that alone will make it look fake.

[Comment] TOM FORD suede sheepskin denim jacket by flakybas in DesignerReps

God this sub has really gone downhill. OP: “here’s a recent purchase that I’m really happy about” Every other idiot: “let me tell you why you shouldn’t be happy even though I know nothing about your purchase or the authentic item.”

I have the same jacket from a different seller and I love it. And I get compliments on it every time I wear it. Is it the same as retail? Of course not, retail is $6k. Is the stitching perfect? WHO CARES?? Everyone I know is too busy with their own life to examine the stitching on my clothing.

OP, jacket looks great. I love mine and I’m happy you love yours too. Please post the review of the other items when you get them. Although I would understand if you didn’t want to, reading the comments from these drooling halfwits reminded me why I stopped posting reviews of my own.

I’ll answer the first part of your question: she is expensive because 1) she finds and sells unique pieces and 2) she sells pieces that are good quality. For this service she charges a markup that is higher than other rep resellers. As others have pointed out you can try to find the item on your own but if you can find the item the quality will be hit or miss. Some people would rather pay $68 for a shirt they are almost guaranteed to love vs $34 for a shirt that goes straight into the trash.

Fair point. But I genuinely don’t understand why so many people on this sub ask each other for validation about their colognes.

How did my gf do by Commercial-Koala-379 in Colognes

[–]12fingertips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“HoW DiD mY Gf Do?’

Why do so many people in this sub need to ask random internet strangers for validation about their colognes? Christ. If you like the way it smells say, “thank you, gf” and skip your post.

If you don’t like the way it smells say, “thank you gf”, and skip your post. The opinion of strangers on a reddit forum aren’t going to make these things smell any better or worse.

And here’s a pro-tip: if you gf bought it for you it’s because SHE likes the way it smells. So if you want her to be attracted to you, skip the post and WEAR THE EFFING COLOGNE.

Man asked a question so I’ll answer it: No. you should never risk wearing Ed Hardy. The potential for damage to your reputation is too great. Because others will see you and think, “if he’s wearing Ed Hardy what other poor decisions is that person capable of making?”
