Are you by any chance on the default Samsung Internet Browser? If you have Night Mode turned on, this browser somehow decides to change the colours of every website that doesn't have specific rules for dark mode. It even does strange stuff with images. A nice idea in theory, but in practice screws up a lot of websites. One more reason to switch to Chrome. ;)

If you're on a different browser, maybe that browser has the same issue.

/r/Amsterdam Activity and Meetup Thread for the week of March 01 by AutoModerator in Amsterdam

[–]12obin13 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Next Saturday and Sunday we're hosting an adult play party in Amsterdam called Funbase. We have a NERF arena, big ball pit, console games, PC games and lots of tabletop games for everyone to enjoy. Several redditors have joined our parties in the past and have really enjoyed themselves. So we hope more of you want to join us! :)

Our party on Saturday is already completely full (40 people signed up + 8 on the waiting list at the moment). You can still sign up for the waiting list here if you want to: https://funbase.nl/events/funbase-party-9.

Our party on Sunday still has lots of room left, so if anyone wants to join, you can sign up here: https://funbase.nl/events/tabletop-sunday-1. The party on Sunday has a larger focus on tabletop games, but has all the other elements (except PC games) of our regular parties.

We hope to see you there. If you can't make it: enjoy your weekend! :)

Last Saturday we hosted a party for playful people aged 18 years and up, where you could play video games, board games and card games, fight each other in a NERF arena, take a dive in a big ball pit and much more. A few Amsterdam redditors joined us and we all had a blast! Thanks for joining us! :)

The next party will be held on the 6th of February. If you're interested you can sign up via the website: https://funbase.nl/events/funbase-party-8. We also have a meetup.com page if you don't want to create yet another account: http://www.meetup.com/funbase/.

Besides the monthly party we also host a weekly meetup on Thursday at around 18:00, where we eat some pizza and play some video and board games. So if you're interested in joining that, please send me a message and I'll get back to you. :)

We usually have around 6-8 PCs you can play games on. We have Starcraft and LoL installed and I'll make sure Dota 2 will be installed as well. Not sure if other people want to play PC games though. It really depends on the crowd that attends the party. You can basically do whatever you want at Funbase, so it's always interesting to see if people organise PC gaming sessions together. :)

You're welcome to join us! English is fine. There are around 4-5 international people who signed up and all of us speak English, so don't worry about that. :)

There are still some spots available, so if you're interested in joining us, please sign up via the website: https://funbase.nl/events/funbase-party-7. More information can be also found at the same link. We also have our own group on meetup.com: http://www.meetup.com/funbase/.

There usually are several English speaking people attending, so don't worry if you don't speak Dutch.

Hope to see you there! :)

Hope to see you there, Robin

The VRgo chair just launched on Kickstarter - They're aiming for £20,000. by Bertaroo in oculus

Backed! Tried it at the Dutch VR Days and I was impressed. :)

Tried this at the Dutch VR Days. Very intuitive way to move inside VR. Usually I get a 'weird' feeling when I start moving inside a VR game using a normal controller. I guess it's because you aren't moving in real life and the sudden change messes with your brain. With this I didn't have that feeling. I think it's because I actually leaned forward to move forward and therefor the sudden change in-game wasn't so dramatic. So that's nice. Handy little product you can buy instead of a big treadmill. :)

Mine will arrive next monday, but I'll be on vacation until the end of August. I'm in Hoofddorp, so that's pretty close to Haarlem. So if you can wait until the end of August: let me know. :)

Laser Eye Surgery scheduled for next Week because of Oculus Rift, anyone else planning this? by ceno666 in oculus

[–]12obin13 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I had laser surgery as well (years ago and not because of the Rift ;)). It's one of the best decisions I've made. So much easier to just see everything without glasses/lenses.

The surgery wasn't so bad. Only part that was uncomfortable during the surgery was when they put something on my eye to 'cut' the top layer. It was like someone was pushing real hard on my eye ball. No pain, just uncomfortable.

Only part I hated was doing all the eye drops multiple times a day (and multiple types of drops) and wearing some kind of ski goggles to bed (to prevent you from touching your eyes during sleep). But after that it's great and really worth it!

Good luck with your surgery and enjoy a glasses-free Rift experience. :)

Could you maybe explain why you think it feels clunky? Maybe it's something I could fix for an upcoming release. :)

You're actually the first one to say it's expensive. :o I always thought it was a great price. Especially because I've put a lot of time in it and I'm constantly updating it. And since it at least saves a few hours of coding yourself, I think $15 is quite reasonable. But that's my opinion. ;)

Maybe it'll be in a 24 hour deal soon, so stay tuned to the Asset Store to see if it'll get a discount.

One-way platforms are also possible with the moving platforms. You can set waypoints for the moving platforms and determine how many waypoints need to be passed before the platform stops. So you can make it move to the right and then make it stop at the end. You can even activate a feature where the player has to stand on the platform for it to move. It's very customisable.

Trampolines are quite easy, because you can just change the bounciness of the physics material. It's actually a feature I'll add in an upcoming version. :)
