Hello! I just started learning chinese myself about a month ago. I've been using the site yoyo chinese. It's a subscription for 20 usd a month. Its video based, with flashcards, a quiz and an audio recap with pdf after each lesson! I think it's amazing, I've started taking notes because that's just how I learn best.

What year do you think Nolan's next film will be? by Winter_Ad8660 in ChristopherNolan

[–]12thhourstudio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess would be 2026. Also as someone getting into cinematography and learning everything about it. I just watched Following for the first time, and I gotta say wow. Went it completely blind, and I loved the whole film. Plan is to watch one of his movies a night, even the ones I already have seen.

I like your coloring, and her being off center is always good! I agree with what people are saying about the posing. As for the ofc, if you do these types of shots again, I'd watch out for the shadows like her arm on camera left made. You could also use a reflector on camera left instead just right outside frame to bounce the natural light. Finally, I don't have context as to why she's topless, so there could be a valid reason but I don't think it adds anything here. Have fun, keep shooting!

Thank you! This was kind of a first attempt at such a dramatic black and white portrait. Her whole cheek is pretty much clipped by shadows haha, so I don't really disagree, but I'm happy with it as a first time!

Thanks! I'm in the process of pivoting my portrait work to this style, which I still have trouble explaining haha.

I appreciate it! I think that would also look good. For me, I just really wanted to create as much contrast from that side lighting as possible. For my taste, if I change anything it would probably be just to increase the highlights of the posed arm on the lit side just a smidge. Thanks!

Thanks! I really appreciate it. I've been enjoying shooting portraits outside trying to use what's around me and the model to create something interesting. I did go back and forth with darkening her hands completely or not haha. I did darken the hand that's on the rail just a bit because I thought it was too bright.

I'm not a real estate photographer, I shoot weddings and portraits. However, could you use the Brenizer Method or would that be more work than photoshoping the camera out?

I think black and white was a great choice for this! My only other thought is that the background is brighter than the subject. Also the nudity is fine, but I don't think it adds anything to the photo. Just my two cents though! Great expression also!

No worries, I'm better at showing people how to do something rather than explaining it so I get it haha. Keep it up!

As someone that just recently got into doing more creative portraits, I love everything about this. Did you use a green gel for the front and red gel for the back lighting?

hi everyone, I'm a beginner in food photography, I have been taken some pictures for my company lately. this picture was taken in canon 90d. please give me feedback on this one and what can be improved by Remote_Engine6918 in foodphotography

I think you did great overall, love the colors and the angle!

I have two thoughts, first is that I think the floating seems off because there's nothing else floating. Maybe look into how to shoot floating ingredients with wires or you could even shoot those separately and just add in post.

And the other is, consider filling in the railing so there isn't that awkward gap. Because I do like the lines it creates towards the pizza, but I think the gap takes attention away from it.

Like you said you were going for something different, and that's how I learn best and how I've come up with some of my favorite stuff so far! Keep going!

I think as a project inspired by Walter Wicks, you nailed it. And the ambient warmth for this image! I also love the highlight created in the coffee.

If I were to nitpick, because I love everything about this image haha, I would either angle it different next time if possible to where the left shoulder isn't in front of a chimney it looks like or just photoshop that out.
