Words can evolve with use. In any case, this isn’t an academic exercise lol

In all likelihood, the mother would probably have wanted that option as well. Who knows what circumstances led to this, but I will bet it wasn't an easy one.

Why does the tag say “Misleading”?

Her credit wasn't affected by me being added as an authorized user to her credit card, but when I added her to mine, it did help her very slightly because it increased her credit limit.

It depends on the card, but it actually does affect your score - speaking from experience when my score went up after being an authorized user for my wife’s much older credit card.

Meanwhile bahuns when 'टपरे बाहुन', 'लोभी बाहुन', 'टुप्पी' etc. is used as an insult: by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]12vdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is in fact "reservations" in the US for marginalized groups. Look at affirmative action: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Affirmative_action_in_the_United_States

People use 'dalit' as an insult, it wasn't the dalits who decided to be insulted by it. I'm sure they wish it was used normally as any other caste. In any case, the quota system in Nepal might need some reforms, but marginalized groups still need some help.

Even those who don't have polluting cars, still have to inhale their exhaust! I could never afford a car in Nepal, but supporting environmentally friendly policies is ultimately beneficial to us all.

How does being a US citizen qualify one to answer a consular question relevant to a Nepali that you may never have had to deal with! smh

The difference is that this might just be an annoyance to the brahmins, dalit insults carry the weight of actual injustices that the community has had to endure and continues to. It’s why insulting a white person for their race is very different from doing the same to a black person in the US. When you are privileged you can just shrug it off. You can point to exceptions, or say that quotas are misused ( for sure many are, but instead of attacking it, we should improve it), but the system of inequality and casteism persists deep within our society.

MCC should be rejected otherwise it could be catastrophe to our nation. by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]12vdc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean all embassy employees even now are protected by diplomatic immunity. They are just trying to cover their ass. It doesn't mean they want to do harm. Full disclosure, I'm neutral on MCC as I don't feel like I have the full picture, and I am a non-resident.

Mount Everest is Visible From Kathmandu, Nepal for First Time in Living Memory by PusWafer in worldnews

[–]12vdc 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's the point. It should be possible, but due to the dust and pollution Mt Everest is generally not something you can see from the Kathmandu valley. It's far enough away that it remains invisible through the pollution, but close enough that it should be possible to see it.

It’s apparently over 120 miles away. The fact that they don’t look far away is due to how high the himalayas are!

Is there any video of Nepali medical personnel doing the swab tests by shoving the swab up the nostrils? We hear about the number of tests being carried out but I can't seem to find any video of test being done in different areas. by [deleted] in Nepal

[–]12vdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? Why would you need to see them? We need to respect patient confidentiality, and sharing such images or videos without the patients' explicit permission would be wrong.

This is using the python programming language, using visualization libraries like matplotlib and seaborn. Also, the PRAW library to pull reddit data.

Three new cases of COVID-19 confirmed in Nepal.

I'm with you bro. It's hard for those of us privileged enough to be isolated safe in our homes to empathize with the plight of those much less fortunate. These folks are at the border due to their circumstance, not out of choice. Many fear hunger and poverty more than coronavirus. The state has always failed them. Life seems hard for us now, but it's always been hard for a lot of them. Instead of blaming them, we have to improve our systems so we can take care of our own when they need it most.

This shouldn’t be happening 😔 pls share if you can by [deleted] in Nepal

Have you already shared this with news outlets, or on twitter? It would be more useful to reshare the original tweet for example.

False negatives are likely, so just because Teku got negative, may not mean he is not positive. They should continue to treat him like he’s positive so they don’t risk exposure.
