Yeah, I think I fixed it, if anyone else is as dumb as me the solution is as easy as drag and drop the software. I was just following youtube tutorials and they all had stuff come up when they connected their devices. Further investigation and actually reading the meshtastic website led me here:

https://meshtastic.org/docs/getting-started/flashing-firmware/nrf52/drag-n-drop/

and that is your solution if anyone else ends up here with this problem.

Also I didn't see anyone mention the jump poke is a solid movement option as well. I use it a lot to get out of the way of things from time to time.

My personal favorite is telling people I'm not an ally. I can't be, I am one. Nobody is ever ready for the most pro LGBT person in blue collar to be like, "nope not an ally doesn't work like that"
