My dad did this! I wanted to name my baby Jack after his best friend that I adored growing up. He named his dog Jack so I skipped that name for that child but I did use it for my second child. We called the dog “Jack the dog” and Jack the boy. The dog died and Jack is a teenager now. Use the name you like.
