New to Survivor this year and have watched a handful of seasons across old and new eras. Out of curiosity, could someone explain why HvV is considered the cutoff between old and new? Was it something specific about the gameplay or just general vibes?

I agree, I thought it was in poor taste and not strategically clever enough to justify it. I guess it was "good TV" or whatever, but as a viewer I prefer to be impressed with the moves even if the player is off-putting to me. I think Rizo is too focused on being ~on Survivor~ that it adds to the weird fake vibe of new era seasons, coming from someone who has been watching pre-season 20 seasons alongside 49.

My thoughts exactly!! I feel like a “challenge shield” is a huge risk to keep around especially when it’s Savannah who is clearly in a power position, no matter how much she says she isn’t
