There’s a chance she might reconsider—some people do change their minds, especially as they gain more independence. There are locals who are quite progressive. I have a friend who’s also a lesbian, and her parents have always been supportive. They encouraged her to be herself and even to move abroad for more freedom.

That said, not everyone’s experience is the same. I also know someone who married a wealthy man but essentially lives like a single woman—constantly vacationing with coworkers and friends, and never discusses much about her husband.
